MGM is screwed either way. They can lose millions in court in a lawsuit, or they can lose forever the business of millions of people when this story breaks. Suing the victims of America's largest mass shooting is surely going to piss a lot of people off. That cannot be good for their corporate image. Its probably better in the long run to just settle in court.

Stay classy corporate America. My guess is they're terrified that the courts and public might notice their lack of security and construe their failures to act to ensure the safety of the people in the hotel and plaza incorrectly.
