Am I the only one that thinks the media is blowing thins way, way, way out of proportion?

Montreal has thousands of fans...probably hundreds of thousands of fans.

A couple hundred protest?

There is a fringe element of hard liners in every group, and they are almost never indicative of the entire groups philosophy.

Yes, the media are at it again. But you have to understand that the same media, encouraged by a handful of hardcore separatists with friends in them, are in a hunt for every english entities living in Quebec. There was a story some weeks ago about a VP of the National Bank of Canada only speaking english. That story went for more than a week everywhere. It's pure "anglophoby", boosted by the complaisant media. In the video I posted up here, the comedian is asking the protester where is the "anglais" since everything he sees around him is in french. The evil "anglais" is inside the Bell Center and coaches the Montreal hockey team !!!

Montreal has an American captain...and haven't had a Canadian captain for the last 13 years.

Who would want the job of Captain? You know the next one is going to have their language skills scrutinized as well thanks to this idiocy.

Years ago they gave Saku Koivu grief for being captain and not speaking French as well. These idiots aren't hockey fans they Nazis.

There are only two places where multi-lingualism is frowned upon:

GOP primary debates when people criticize Jon Huntsman for speaking Chinese, and Quebec.

He sure doesn't. Although a minor amendment to his statement might make things a little more accurate. "This is why the rest of Canada can't stand Quebec political media."

That might make it more accurate, yes.

However, it goes beyond political media. You have people protesting this...where are the people denouncing these groups?

You have the President of the team apologizing to the people. WTF?

Did the president apologize to the media when the team had a captain from Finland?

Did the president apologize when they appointed Gionta, an American, as captain?

Such a joke.

If this was Mike Babcock or another high profile anglophone coach, they'd be dead silent.

Well me suggests they would have a hard time stocking their lineup with Franco's anyways, I do rememebr Danny Briere saying he does not want to play there and I believe (though I may be mistaken) Lecavalier said something similar, so these idiots shoot themselves in the foot and make it a place that high profile Franco hockey players don't want to return to because of their radical behaviour. IT'S JUST A FUCKING GAME

Briere even took less money to go to Montreal. He's boo'd every time he touches the puck in Montreal.
