I wouldnt have a law banning it, but if the child objects to go through this therapy it should end there.

Sounds like brainwashing. Mucking around in the mind of a minor is probably going to do more harm than good in the long run, expecially if the kid is sexually confused (and they may not actually be confused at all). You would normally only have a kid's head shrunk if they have some kind of disruptive behaviour problem, and I don't consider being gay/bi-curious etc. to be a behaviour problem.

If this is ok, why not psychotherapy to force a kid to like a certain kind of music, hobby or sports team?

As long as they also have 'conversion' therapy to make straight teens turn gay, why not.

I think a therapy that makes lippy teens less lippy would do the world a lot more good.

You expect a child to stand up to his/her parents?

The problem with this law is that it assumes that every kid who has some sort of sexual orientation question *MUST* be gay or lesbian and it prohibits a therapist from determining that a patient of theirs is heterosexual and then helping the child cope with that. It is only legal for a therapist to help a child to be gay or lesbian.

Thus the count is up to seven separate lawsuits that have been filed today against this idiotic and politically correct law.

And I'll bet it's the same groups who fought for Prop. 8.

Yeah, no kidding.
I doubt parents who would take a child to such "treatment" would listen to any reason at all, let alone from their own child. "We know what is best for you, and boys do not play with dolls"

Helping the child to cope with being a heterosexual? Really? More likely helping the child with their sexual ambiguity - doubt the law prohibits that at all, in either direction. Just taking a child who's showing an interest in gay sex and "healing" them isn't on.

Not to worry, the gay healers can just ply their trade with all the adult Republicons gay haters who turn out to like it up the ass. Crystal Meth is a bonus.
