They can get f*cked. Find somewhere that doesn't have prayer, if it's that much a problem!

Did you actually read the article and what they're saying?

It would appear as though almost no one read the article, judging from the posts in the article. Post after post slamming the Muslims would be proof positive that all we need is to see the word Muslim in an article, and we start circling the wagons.

I think yeah, religious prayer...from ANY religion needs to occur outside the school, because as the article said it *could* lead to religious extremism, and at the very worst its excluding everyone in the school who is not Sunni or Shi'ite.

Its a public school, not a Madrasah.

I'd say the same if the school brought in Catholic Priests or Protestant Ministers.

Good call.... prayer shouldn't be in public schools in the first place.... they're run by the state & church/state should always remain apart.

And it's not just Muslims supporting this, but Hindu & Jewish groups, as noted in the above link.

Private schools, sure.... fill your boots, but don't take our tax dollars to do it.... if you're private, then be private.... stop dipping into public funds.

If you want to pray or if you want to teach certain religious beliefs, then do that in Sunday School or Church/Mosque, etc. Public Schools are for education, not religious propaganda.

It's funny how as soon as some in here see "Muslims" suggesting something or wants something, it's automatically a bad thing, they shouldn't have a say and they should go "Get F*cked" for even opening their mouths in the first place.

God Forbid (pun intended) they might actually have a point and actually makes a level of sense.

Keep in mind that it's Muslims trying to stop Muslim children from praying in public schools because of the reasons & examples they explained in the above link.

yeah, these reasons, real good ones.

Quote:
“We are concerned that there are some Muslim groups that are not seen as Muslims and may not be invited to pray.”

Quote:
Local Imams are brought in to lead the 30 to 40 minute service in which the boys sit in front of girls in the lunch room, where non-Muslims are banned during prayers.

Nice use of tax payer resources, to support this stupid shit.

Finally,

Quote:
TDSB Superintendent of Education Jim Spyropoulos said there a number of schools in Toronto that “accommodate” students with prayer requests. He did not know how many students or schools took part.

This idiot should be fired, and someone put in who understands
what a PUBLIC system is.

All religion should be out of ALL schools, period. And that includes the
entire Catholic school system.

I think everyone here should take a second to actually read the story, the school has nothing to do with the prayers aside from providing them with space to hold their services.

Quote:
TDSB Superintendent of Education Jim Spyropoulos said there a number of schools in Toronto that “accommodate” students with prayer requests. He did not know how many students or schools took part.

Spyropoulos said his board has to accommodate Muslims, or other ethnic groups, due to Ontario Human Rights and TDSB policy.

“We will consider the prayer request for any group who has to pray during school hours,” he said. “We have an obligation to accommodate any group or students who may have prayer needs.”

He said the services will not be monitored because “we do not have the right to tell people how to worship.”

Nowhere in the story does it say who is responsible for providing the Imams to lead the prayers, if it is the school then I agree with martin, but it seems the tab is being picked up by some other group.

I hope if a Christian group wants to hold prayers they will accommodate them too. And of course the Wiccans, can't forget the Wiccans. They either allow every religion to hold services or none.
