From what I have seen in NB, the view of most people here is that the maritimes is doing Alberta a favor by having so many east coasters working the oil patch. I have a feeling they are going to look for some sort of hand out as a reward for working in Alberta.

I was talking to a Caper, in the reserves, about his friends and family moving to the Fort to work. He said it was because "the Albertans are just too lazy, and that the need the hard working capers to go out there to make sure the job gets done." I asked him if he was going to go on unemployment when he gets back from tour, he said yes  .

Next time oil booms we should just lock the borders and do it all ourselves......really slowly and collect even more wages...and drive up the price of oil as shortages mount daily...because we're such lazy Albertans.

Many of the workers from the east are going to be in for a bit of a shock here pretty soon. A lot companies are ditching their travel compensation packages that they offered when it was buisy. No more free plane tickets. Not to mention most companies aren't going to have a ton of notice on when they go back to work so for that reason we won't be putting up with guys taking 3 or 4 days to get here to start. I'm all ready crossing guys from Ontario and BC off my lists.
