While it would be nice if Alberta had $200 billion in the Heritage Fund, that won't happen simply because too many people here want everything now. I'm surprised people are pressuring Stelmach for $400.

Still, if we could save more than a few hundred million a year it woudl be great. I'd like to see a couple billion put aside each year.

We do have real infrastructure needs. What we don't have is any justification for blowing $1.4 billion on feel good cheques to every Albertan, when we do have justification for saving it this way.

Maybe we need to operate Alberta more like the other provinces, with slightly higher taxes than we have now to cover the day to day stuff so we can free up our fleeting resource revenue to go to savings. As it is, we're blowing a finite source of wealth on unending expenses.

No sales tax = no savings.

Nope, just commenting that I'm surprised Stelmach hasn't been pressured by the public to give away $400 like Klein did.

Don't get me wrong, I liked getting $400 just like everyone else, but it could have been better spent, like on getting rid of health care premiums or saving for the future (Heritage Trust Fund).
