He will probably get a harsher punishment with a sentencing circle than with the current justice system. His case is no different than a parent driving drunk and killing their children, so the punishment would be the same. We all know what the punishments have been like in drunk driving cases.
I would like to see stricter sentences under those situations, but thats a pipe dream.
I would like to see...Jail time, Concurrent Disorder Treatment and for the community to look at the addiction issues and address them, not to brush them under the rug and if need be to take steps towards abstinence.
After jail and treatment he should have to talk to youth about what you can lose at the hands of alcohol. This should be part of a recovery plan for when he is released.
