Talk to the Gettysburg reenactors... they don't mind. Gives the 'Southruns' a chance to fly their battle flags again for a short while and teach their young ones about their heritage. Likewise the Union

It's easy for the author (Josée Legault, a hard-line separarist) to write something without data to prove it...

I live in Quebec and, from what I have seen, I can say the contrary. Almost all federalists supported the reenactment and even some separatists.

They should take a page from the Scots and the Irish... sing songs and celebrate the great victories along with the great losses... all part of history and culture

Pretty much agree on that.

The local media seems to give way too much attention to the likes of Pierre Falardeau and the other gang de bougons.

Then again, pretty much expected since several Quebec journalists could be considered leftist PQ supporters themselves. Therefore, easy for them to publicize bias reports in such a way that is favourable to their nationalistic cause.

That's sort of what I suspected when I read this in the first place. It would be nice to see some other "jornalists" put these revisionists in their place though.

There was probably many constructive arguments on the Federalist side of the matter but the QC media simply opted not to report their opinions therefore leaving the separatists uncontested and pleased.

What "historians"? What "columnists"? I read the Globe and Mail, National Post and Toronto Star (3 of largest newspapers in the nation) and i've hardly seen a consensus here.

Re-enacting the Battle of 2 Foreign Peoples conflict that is a historic sore point for our fellow countrymen seems not worth doing.

It should be this simple.

The people that do not like the event should simply not attend and let others at least observe the festivities.

Surely it was immature for the few idiot separatists to threaten violence and cry about it simply because it goes against their values.

Anyways, it all goes to say that it was only a ''few'' separatists that bitched about it and not the majority of Quebecers.

To be fair, most were probably indifferent towards the event.

Then the QC media jumped into it and used their bias effectively in order to create controversy and not commenting on the whole issue.

You are right. With the media today...

What I don't understand at all is that is was made in 1999 for the 240th anniversary and nothing happened: http://archives.cbc.ca/lifestyle/travel/clips/15093/

Then don't take part. Problem solved.

Spinelessness and appeasement killed it.
