The opposition cares, so does Democracy Watch, they think Ford violated ethics regulations to get the guy hired.

Of course he did, I think we all know that... he's a Ford, after all.

Which is why they're calling for an investigation into it. And the ethics commissioner could recommend up to Ford losing his seat in the legislature (which obviously won't happen with a majority, but would look bad).

I'm suddenly reminded of the late Rob's claims that he would stop the gravy train...only to have bus passengers kicked off to provide transportation for his football team, his skipping important council meetings to coach that same team, and IIRC something about city paving trucks fixing the Deco Labels property.

So the gravy train stops for everyone...except the Fords and their friends.

IOW, another case of politicians doing exactly the same thing they give their opponents grief for. :(

Yea, it was a shame to see a guy volunteer his time as a non-parent coach in a shitty part of Toronto. Perhaps he missed that ever-important discussion at Toronto council about gender pronouns or how not to offend the raccoons.

Equally shitty was asking the City repair their own property outside of a business. How dare they ask.

It's fine if he wants to volunteer, but why is he doing it on the taxpayers' time? How do you know he simply skipped discussions about gender pronouns? Besides, he actually ditched a meeting of the executive committee.

Does this mean that somebody like John Tory could ditch a Council meeting to go work with at-risk youth or something? Or is it one of those things that's only okay when Ford does it?

As for the road repairs, it's odd that the mayor got the road in front of his family company repaved right before the company's 50th anniversary and that he specifically requested it, while other councilors talked about having backlogs of road repairs for their own constituents and staff members note that no elected official before Ford pulled this kind of stunt.

So I guess it'd be kosher to have John Tory get the city staff to prioritize fixing the lights around the radio station where he used to host his talk shows, amirite?
