I've put the car in a skid in that exact spot b/c some silly bugger wasn't paying attention and drove out onto the highway.

More than once.

Nah this is what happens when a Manitoban towing a trailer runs a stop sign at the intersection of 17 and 17A and tries to make a left hand turn with oncoming east bound traffic (travelling 'round 95-100 kph)

Somebody screwed up hard here and it isn't the fella from Sioux Lookout.

Not saying accident was the guy with the camera was at fault but he sure likes crossing the double yellow line a lot.

I can’t see in the video but is there a stop sign there? The only sign I could see looked like a road name sign.

I call habitual yellow line crossers "drifters" for obvious reasons.

There is a stop sign there, you just can't see it b/c in the video we're looking at it from the side.

It's obviously the fault of the guy who pulled out. The the guy with the camera seemed slow to react too. As soon as he saw the truck move he should have hit the brakes - didn't seem to do that right away - cruising along, easy listening music, he was not at full attention.

As Saturn said there is a stop sign to the right which is a side road in where the guy pulled out of onto the Trans Canada Highway. In the video you can see the truck and trailer approaching and going right through the stop. After the crash you can hear that guy saying it was "totally his fault and that he was so sorry." The dash cam also did a great job in capturing the driver using his cell phone as the collision occurs. Whatever he gets for the traffic infraction, he will also get a $280 fine. That's up from $150 as of a few weeks ago.

Yup and the police here in Ontario have been using that photo to help justify the increased fine for driving while distracted. Hard to argue that one.

I guess you are watching a different video. The video I saw showed Ralph Ireland cross the center line 5 times before impacting the guy talking on his cell phone.
Watching Ralph correcting his drifting over into oncoming traffic suggests that he isn't paying attention.

0:20 Crossed the double line...
0:23 Makes correction to the right...
0:26 drifts to the left again....
0:38 makes correction to the right...
0:40 drifts back over the double solid line...
0:45 corrects back to the right...
0:51 drifts to the left again...
0:56 corrects back to the right...
0:59 riding the double solid line...
1:03 crosses the double solid again and makes no correction...
1:04 Notices the truck in front of him "say's oh fuck"...
1:05 hits other distracted driver...

Ralph Ireland has the right of way, but had HE paid attention he could have avoided this accident, but he didn't.

And when people in Canada start driving like the Russians, you may get your wish.

It's for the insurance companies.
