Sure I'm probably in the minority but people are way to hung up on holding on to to something that isn't important anymore. By all accounts it was all just ash by the point in was dumped anyway. What else are you really going to do with it?

You should at the very least treat the remains in a dignified manner, nothing else really matters. Being disposed of by being dumped with the rest of the trash into a landfill is not an alternative, although in your case it's probably the best you can look forward to.

Like I said before, that is not up tho THEM to decide. It is up to the family to decide. If the family decides to have the military (or the funeral home where they are cremated (crematorium?)) to dispose of them IN A DIGNIFIED MANNER, than they don't mean "throw them in a dumpster", they mean on a field with the rest of their fellow soldiers.
