Credible drone imagery shows #Ukrainian forces hitting two #Russian Navy Russian Navy Raptor (or BK-16/18 assault boats - all like Swedish CB-90).

Possibly linked, two of these were seen heading towards Snake Island / Ukraine on April 27. Might be same pair

"With Russia, we can sign only its capitulation" Secretary Oleksii Danilov

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council believes that there can be no peace agreement with Russia.

With that in mind:

Someone want to take a stab at fitting that round peg into that square hole? This is a war of attrition. It is going to be brutal and long. Both sides (Russia/NATO) have been looking at a way to grind axes without burning the whole world to the ground. We seen it in Afghanistan twice and innumerable proxies around the world. No world order can be maintained as long as no nation can be trusted with power over another. In lieu of that the only work around are these endless proxie wars to sap the war chest so no one side gains a runaway advantage. This clock is ticking and Russia geared up the economy for a long engagement but their supplies are not infinite and need a win but for Russia this is a war of annihilation and Ukraine is the sacrifice they are betting the west will grow weary of. The wildcard is China and India, without them Russia would never even think about doing this. There are signs they are both wavering but it is too soon to tell. If either of them get sanctioned for their continued support of Russia that will be the west calling Russia bluff once and for all. They will only do that if they have no other option or they think they are out of time, neither would be good.

The only plausible strategy I can see that Putin thinks is viable, is that the west economy will break before his ability to make war does. How long can we keep up a lend lease? What happens if we give Ukraine too much and we are short of arms to defend our own lines? He still has a LOT of tanks, helo's and arty and conscripts to run them and considering their economy is going nowhere but down the military will soon be the only place to get a job.

I think Putin has stumbled too badly from the onset to recover but he hasn't come to terms that he has lost yet so he will thrash out terms in blood. The US will ensure that those terms are ones where Russia is broken and defanged, a rump kingdom on par with North Korea or Pakistan.

Chomsky assertion that Trump is the only stateman pushing for a diplomatic solution is folly. NO ONE can deal with Putin until the weapons of war at his disposal have been reduced to the point that Putin will have to no choice but to divert his military to maintain order domestically similar to how Saddam Hussein was dealt with in 91. Still in power but with a MUCH smaller army unable to project power. Putin has no external motivator save his own ego and he knows his days grow short. Legacy is the only thing that matters to him.

You mention how shocking little Germany has done, yet when I looked at the graph, Germany was slightly ahead of Canada. So why are we NOT talking about what a pathetic response Canada has had to the situation?
