Time to go online and ship it from Europe, China, or anywhere else that isn't stupid.

Good thing Canada has a socialized health program that prevents this kind of thing. [B-o]

We don't have a national drug plan covering any and all prescriptions and pharmaceuticals.

Oh, well then you definitely need a whole new bureaucracy to run this for you.

And, for how many years have the Liberals been promising a national daycare program?

Here's hoping we get a national Pharmacare program like literally every other civilized western country in the world (aside from Trump's Murica).

The problem with such programs is that when they declare a monopsony with price controls the pharma industry simply refuses to produce drugs that won't fit the pricing scheme.

Meaning that you end up with whole nations of people who can't buy expensive drugs at any price. They have to leave their country to find the medications they need.

The pharmas still make bank when they allow the licensing for cheaper generics to be made of their products. It's usually the first generation of a new drug that is wildly expensive anyway but later on the price comes down dramatically as it's fine-tuned and can be made more cheaply. The real danger for patients these days is having to worry about how many of these low-lifes on Wall Street like Martin Shkrelli are out there trying to monetize an already-cheap medicine by buying the rights to it when it enters "public domain" or whatever it's called when the original patent expires. Unless it's really exotic and exceptionally difficult to manufacture the pharmas and governments and insurance companies will at least try most of the time to make it semi-affordable for people in a life-threatening situation. It some of these pirates out there lurking around to make a fast buck that are an increasingly dangerous problem.

I'd like to see any facts to back that up. There are dozens of countries with national Pharmacare programs, and not even one of them has that issue. Drugs are universally cheaper, usually exponentially cheaper.

And be honest, studies have shown and proven 100% of new drugs are researched, funded, and discovered by public money. Yes, drug companies help fund them, and they spend millions testing the end products, but public funds and Universities are where nearly every single drug originates from. Then the patent is given to 1 company, and they rape us. Another example of socializing the costs, and privatizing the profits.

If that'd stop Pharma Bros like Martin Shkreli from jacking up prices, Canadians would be all for it.

The national pharmacare programs *all* fall short on cancer drugs, AIDS treatments, and expensive 'orphan drugs' that only a few people need (it's cheaper to let them die).

You show me one you think is good and I'll show you where it fails.
