We also know, and the scientists do too, that earthquake prediction is not an exact science. They're getting better at it, but it may never (or at least for a long time still) become an exact science. They should not have gotten cocky and said this. A "We don't think there's any danger for we can't be 100% sure" would have been good.
I don't think they should be held accountable for their stupidity. Dragging their names in the mud is all good though.

Climate science is not an exact science yet they are demanding we make drastic changes to our life style....

It's not "exact", neither is any Science. However, it has been well Studied and is well understood.
