Good read but I need to object about the:

"Similarly, Mr. Obama has provided Mr. Harper wiggle room on Afghanistan. Until now, any hint that Canada's mission might extend past the stated 2011 deadline would have drawn howls of outrage from the opposition."

That's crap. The CPC had a vote and is firm that we're leaving. It's only the opposition who are questioning this and their doing so for purely political reasons.

Bush was an idiot. That's why he , and to a certain extent the US, was harshly criticized all these years.

George H.W Bush was a south-paw as well. As was Clinton, and Reagan, and Ford, and Truman, and Hoover...

For many being Anti-Bush was being Anti-American.

Reminds me of Andrew's diatribe of lamenting that there was nothing worse in Canada then our anti-Americanism save of course for our pro-Americanism! It was nearly as bad as Adlers rant about the media in Canada going ga-ga over Obama. It was so pathetic that he actually made them look good by means of comparison. For most it was a non-event but for his ego it was nearly the end times!

The so called "anti-bush" folk didn't seem to limit their disparaging commentary to ONLY the former president.

They both have points, all this outpouring of love for a foreign head of state who hasn't really done much of anything really for his own countrymen yet (much less us) is kinda odd to say the least.

Truth be told it has more to say about the people coverng the 'story' then the story itself. I could see a pet rock getting the same reception after that last guy they had in office.
