Waste of a perfectly good nuke, gonavy. The only solution (and this applies to the whole Muslim world, with few exceptions) is to put up the "Closed Sign": end trade, shut off the foreign aid, pull out the peacekeepers and diplomats and tell them all that they're under TOTAL embargo from the civilized world until they separate church from state and join the rest of humanity in the 21st century (or 22nd, or 23rd...)

What really makes it a mess, though, is that petroleum underneath their sands. Fat chance getting Russia or China to agree to an embargo. We seem to be unable to effect change over there without acting practically unilaterally.

Maybe we should let Africans solve their own problems. After all Europeans are to blame for all of their troubles, so maybe we should wash our hands of the entire continent and see if they can do any better.

I haven't quite decided which side of the embargo fence China would sit on. They might be good candidates to shut out too.

Lemmy, the Chinese are already very busy in Africa, buying everything they can.

Doing nice deals with Mugabe and other wonderful people.

They would never support any kind of embargo; they simply
don't care about things like human rights.

I can't imagine the real situation in this peaceful country, we see only the tip of the iceberg. The sad part of the story that we can do nothing. New Afghanistan ? I don't think so. Just don't let them spread this contagion in our countries.

Exactly. That's why I said I hadn't decided what side of the embargo line they'd be on. They'd have to tidy up their record on MANY issues (including Human Rights) before I'd include them among the civilized nations of the planet.
