Sadly, Zoos may be the best place to preserve critically endangered species.

Nope. The wild is the best place. Animals raised in zoos or sanctuaries don't pass down the learnt knowledge they need in the wild, and most can't be re-wilded.

It just comes down to our ability to control our urge for expansion, and more more more.

fair, Concrete can't be bribed. Its sad when animal "concentration camps" may actually preserve some species. I'm not a fan of keeping animals in cages, I'd rather expansive swaths of land be set aside for these animals to flourish, but people will be people and take money to look the other way while some asshole slaughters the last animal on earth.

Our species has a long history of wiping species out, repercussions be damned.

This is why aliens won't visit.
