Ugh, about time. I would have just tear gased them. Not for protesting but for protesting against something that has nothing to do with this country and wasting resources and peoples time and lifes that depend on there jobs which depends on getting there on time. All for nothing.

I'd probably leave the general vicinity of liberals as well.

At least get the headline right. Nothing political at all here. I'd say public safety affects us all regardless of what political spectrum they talk to.

Hmm, or perhaps instead of jumping the gun you might have figured out that CTV just updated their article and changed the headline.

Perhaps this was their original story by the Canadian Press? Maybe?

Tamils end blockade of Toronto highway after speaking to Liberal officials
Mon, 2009-05-11 02:53.

By: Tamsyn Burgmann and Allison Jones, THE CANADIAN PRESS

TORONTO - Thousands of Tamil protesters who blocked a major highway in Toronto for several hours ended their passionate but peaceful occupation with news early Monday the federal Liberals would raise their concerns.

Terrorist organization, just like Paul Martin labled them.
Typical Ontario police to do nothing.

The Libs have a very long history supporting and nurturing that terrorist organization so it's natural that they wouldn't throw that away when Martin labled them Terrorists. Maybe Iggy can promise them the moon and stars but it's looking like the Tamils won't have a homeland to go to when, or if, Iggy gets into power.

.. that is, unless PM Iggy wants his Canada to support a terrorist insurection.
Is that another of these, much bantered, "Canadian values"?

The "terrorist" label is just that: a label. Nelson Mandella and the ANC were a "terrorist organization" too. It's all perspective. Either way, a bunch of middle-class Canadian former Sri Lankans marching and carrying signs isn't terrorism in any way whatsoever. Let them have their 15 minutes.

15 minutes is fine by me too, just not on a highway breaching other Canadians rights of free movement and not to tie up dozens of cops from three Services when they should be looking for bad guys.

Not to mention the hospitals on University that have access problems due to the demo's as well as all those re-routed ambulances, fire-trucks and cruisers who have to take lengthy detours avoiding Tamils waving flags with guns on them to answer emergency calls.
I bet you would be happy if a loved one in pain was waiting another 20 minutes for EMS because all the streets were blocked by protesters ranting on about things that Canada can do nothing about.

Some people forget that these kind of illegal demo's are illegal because they put other people at risk.

Protest legally to promote your cause. But hey, they have already lost any sympathy in the GTA, besides the odd die hard anarchists who will support anything that pisses people off.
