You can just choose to ignore all the posts about atheism then, I ignore all the posts promoting theism
Because there aren't that many, if any.

So, all atheists are being right now is reactionary to people they consider irrational? Strange, isn't it. I thought we were the fools for believing in God and such, but of course, wasting 135,000 pounds to react to religious billboards.
You would think the 135,000 would of been better spent on "enjoying life" instead of spreading non-belief to believers.
Good point. Although these Evangelicals shouldn't be out spreading fear like they are either.

Ah, one thing. Its rare to have a religious member actually start an article/discussion about God or their religious beliefs. Outside of maybe one troll or two (I'm referring to more respected members, lily, for example) we really don't need to talk about how our church or faith is spreading, or our God is better than your non-belief garbage. Most of the articles you would see about religion deals with atheists creating topics like "Organized Religion is a CON" or things like these and usually, like this article, is posted by a more respected member, and usually the bigotry against race or ethnic origin that would be condemned instantly, are usually accepted forthright, see the Religion Must Be Destroyed article about the Atheist Alliance.
The "Organized religion is a CON" thread was an attack on organized religion technically. And the "Religion Must Be Destroyed" article was posted by a Christian, written by a Christian, in an attempt to demonize athiests.
And most athiests don't claim to have proof of there being no god or gods. They simply don't believe there is/are.

I've had Christians come knocking on my door asking me if I have Jesus in my heart.

It's funny, you quoted me but didn't actually read what I posted.
BS, you said Atheists are worse than JWs. I made the case that Atheists are pretty much the same as main stream Christianity when presenting their ideas.
So what makes Atheists worse than JWs? To make that statement someone must have done something to you that went beyond knocking on your door.

So organized religion isn't religion anymore? Awesome. Good to know. If I said organized science should be destroyed, I'd be laughed off the boards or called a troll.

So why do you care to spread your non-belief? If you believe people have the right to choose and such, and if they choose to believe in God, why can't you just shrug your shoulders and not care, instead of blasting religion left and right. And if you looked in that "Religion must be destroyed" You see atheist members agreeing with the idea.

It is because religion affects everyones life whether they are religious or not. Just look at the fact that unless you are a professing Christian one can not be elected to major office in the United States. I think another reason that atheists talk about religion is the growing movement in the US by Evengalical Christians to add creationism into science classes. This on it's own could destory the next generations basic understanding of science and in the long term hinder advancment of us as a society. I am pretty sure that most of this is a counter attack directed more at the Born again/evangelical crowd rather than the average person that quietly goes to church and keeps their religion to themselves.
To be honest, I think this is a bigger issue in the US than it is in Canada.

I really don't understand why atheists need to "convert" others to atheism. If you don't believe in God, why do you care if people do, let alone needing to spread your beliefs, since, in the end, there's no reward for spreading those beliefs, since you die, rot away, and basically are forgotten.
I only speak of my atheism when people try to convert ME first.
If someone starts spewing their bullshit "gods" to me, I'm definitely going to take it and ram it back down their own throat.

Well said, and that is exactly my reason for coming out of the atheist closet. I've been an atheist since I was a kid, but it was never a big deal to me. I was willing to keep it to myself and suffer the odd door-knocker. It wasn't until the intelligent design movement decided on its own that my kids should learn creationism in science class instead of how the world works that the gloves came off.
I still don't care if someone believes in a god, and I don't go around jabbing people with my finger--unless they jab me first.
(edit) And you're right about it being a bigger issue in the U.S., but there has been some spillover here, and it's worth keeping an eye on it.

Stuff a ball-gag in his mouth and make him watch the "Bring Out The Gimp" segment from "Pulp Fiction". It oughta induce some co-operation.

This millitant atheism is stupid. Isn't one of the man objections of religion is that it forces people to think the same?
Extremism provokes more extremism in retaliation. Reactionary atheism, courtesy of Hitchens and Dawkins, is merely a response to a crescendo of incessant religious provokations that encompass everything from whackjob American fundamentalists basically destroying the ability of the Republican Party to be appealing to American political moderates thru to Muslims seeking God's love by smashing airliners into skyscrapers.
Religious folks used to have a bit of "live and let live" in them but apparently not too many of them do anymore. All existing rules of law and human nature dictate that secularists have a right and a duty to fight back against the encraoching religious contamination of secular institutions that were built to guarantee everyone's rights.
