Born in the 1980s? You're the first generation to take home less than the one before, official stats show

Expectation is that each generation has it better than the one before
A landmark study from the ONS shows this is not the case
It found that income growth in their 20s among those born in the 1980s slumped
It said: 'The same pattern of consistently higher average incomes than previous generations has not been seen for those born in later decades

As someone who was born in 1980, I can attest to this. I have NO disposable income. There is no such thing in my world, even though I work two jobs.

The only thing new about this is that you conservatives are finally waking up to what we’ve been telling you for the last 40 years while you screamed and called us communists for even daring to bring up the subject. Welcome to the party.

I'm not shocked. You can't pay people less and charge more and think people will be able to afford do anything other just barely exist.

If something doesn't change, this consumer based economy will implode.

Henry Ford always priced his cars so that his workers could afford them. Because if they couldn't, he wouldn't have a market.

Preaching to the choir there bud. The only way to offset our rise in taxes is to buy stocks from companies that pay dividends.

Which isn't an option for many people.

Not to sound like a Communist, however; eventually we'll reach that point where people will not be able to purchase the baubles that bring these companies all their money and either the market will implode or we'll riot because we can no longer afford to live.

And I think that day will happen sooner, rather then later.
