Trump says he'll send in feds if Chicago doesn't fix 'horrible carnage going on'
$1:
Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump, for the first time since taking office, has tweeted about violence in Chicago, saying: "I will send in the Feds" if they don't fix the "horrible 'carnage'" going on.

He tweeted about the shootings there in early January, saying at the time as President-elect: "If Mayor can't do it he must ask for Federal help."

The violence in Chicago is disturbing and all levels of Government have failed the city so if President Trump has to threaten Federal intervention to try and end it so be it.

So far all levels of Government before President Trump have failed the city so something has to be done.

Lemmy Lemmy:
So, gun-grabbing, eh?

That was Obama taking everyone's guns.

Trump wouldn't do that. Would he?

Just curious, doesn't the state need to request federal assistance?

Yes, but they wouldn't dare do it, because then the Dems would have

to admit that they have FAILED.

I suppose the feds could get involved if they started charging everyone
they can with federal crimes as much as possible.

Exactly and Chicago has paid the price for the Democrats bruised ego.

Arguably Chicago is a failed city and the civil rights of the law abiding citizens are being systematically violated by ongoing efforts against gun rights and a determined refusal to use existing laws against black offenders.

Trump can use the power of the US Attorney to stop the violation of citizen's gun rights and he can also implement the same kind of exile laws that cleaned up Richmond, Virginia - which was once more violent than Detroit or Chicago. Note that Project Exile was the highly successful enaction of Bill Clinton's Omnibus Crime Bill.

The federal government could do it by nationalizing the national guard in Illinois just like RFK did in the south when shits like George Wallace refused to apply the law and integrate schools.

But it's likely an empty threat. Trump was watching Fox News and they were talking about it so trump and his goldfish attention span had to tweet about it.

If this did happen I'd like to see republicans and especially the NRA twist themselves into knots trying to justify disarming the population of their guns.

The NRA has always supported Project Exile which uses Federal law to disarm and imprison violent felons who aren't supposed to have guns anyway.

The NRA has concurrently and consistently been fighting for the rights of the law abiding people of Chicago to own guns.

In particular the NRA financed the following landmark case against Chicago:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald_ ... of_Chicago
$1:
In McDonald v. City of Chicago, (2010), Chicago resident Otis McDonald, a 76-year-old (in 2010) retired maintenance engineer, had lived in the Morgan Park neighborhood since buying a house there in 1971.[7] McDonald decried the decline of his neighborhood, describing it as being taken over by gangs and drug dealers. His lawn was regularly littered with refuse and his home and garage had been broken into a combined five times, with the most recent robbery committed by a man McDonald recognized from his own neighborhood.

[7] An experienced hunter, McDonald legally owned shotguns, but believed them too unwieldy in the event of a robbery, and wanted to purchase a handgun for personal home defense. Due to Chicago's requirement that all firearms in the city be registered, yet refusing all handgun registrations after 1982 when a citywide handgun ban was passed, he was unable to legally own a handgun. As a result, in 2008, he joined three other Chicago residents in filing a lawsuit which became McDonald v. Chicago.

It's amazing watching the Left bitch and complain the answer to the violence in Chicago is stronger gun laws. This is the problem for 8 years all the Left did was talk and Chicago paid the price, at least Trump is willing to take action.
