The swamp just gets muckier and more toxic.

$1:
British and other European intelligence agencies intercepted communications between associates of Donald Trump and Russian officials and other Russian individuals during the campaign and passed on those communications to their US counterparts, US congressional and law enforcement and US and European intelligence sources tell CNN.

The communications were captured during routine surveillance of Russian officials and other Russians known to western intelligence. British and European intelligence agencies, including GCHQ, the British intelligence agency responsible for communications surveillance, were not proactively targeting members of the Trump team but rather picked up these communications during what's known as "incidental collection," these sources tell CNN.

Of course the answer will be "no", if the ignorant asshole even bothers to reply to them at all.

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing- ... alex-jones

$1:
The Newtown Board of Education has written a letter to President Trump asking him to speak out against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, The Associated Press reported.

Jones, the host of the radio program “Infowars," has alleged multiple times that the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., that killed 20 children was a hoax.

Trump praised Jones in December 2015, telling him: "Your reputation is amazing. I will not let you down."

Trump appeared on Jones's show in December.

“We are asking you to intervene to try to stop Jones and other hoaxers like him," the letter to Trump reads.

The school board sent the letter in February asking Trump to denounce Jones and other conspiracy theorists because of the harmful effects their comments have had on the victims' families, but have yet to receive a response.

ABC News reported that since the 2012 massacre, relatives of victims have been harassed by conspiracy theorists and have even received death threats.

No, you don't understand our government.

A typical US Circuit Court is meant to be composed of twelve judges. While up to 17 has been acceptable the 9th is composed of 29 judges and could arguably be broken up into three separate courts (and then hiring seven more judges) to better serve their jurisdictions. It is long overdue to be broken up.

Hungarian Neo-Nazi quits White House before he gets fired. Fired for being a distraction that is, not fired for his odious beliefs and connections:

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/04/sebasti ... hony-ph-d/

$1:
ontroversial White House adviser Sebastian Gorka is stepping down from his role in the Trump administration to take an unspecified position in “the war of ideas,” said TheHill.com on Sunday.

The announcement comes after Gorka’s Ph.D. was revealed to be fraudulently awarded and his connections to a Hungarian neo-Nazi group were exposed the Jewish Daily Forward.

The Washington Examiner said, “Gorka’s new role will deal with the ‘war of ideas’ involved in countering radical Islamic extremism, a senior administration official said, and will entail an appointment to a federal agency.”

Rumors swirled this week that Gorka was on his way out, that White House personnel were attempting to find him a new position, but that the situation was proving to be “a pain in the ass.”

The Hungarian-English self-styled “expert” in Islamic terrorism came to the Trump administration by way of Breitbart.com, where he and his wife were both editors writing about the threat purportedly posed to western society by radical Muslims.

However, University of North Carolina professor Andrew Reynolds found upon doing a bit of research on Gorka’s credentials that Gorka fudged his way through a correspondence course at a Hungarian university that “did not rank among the top 1,000 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.”

Gorka’s Ph.D., said Reynolds, “is about as legitimate as if he had been awarded it by Trump University.”

Even more troubling are Gorka’s links to far-right Hungarian extremists and anti-Semites. At President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Gorka wore the medal awarded to his father by “a knightly order of merit founded in 1920 by Admiral Miklos Horthy, Hungary’s longtime anti-Semitic ruler and Hitler’s ally during World War II,” said the Jewish Daily Forward.

And before anyone decides to count the angels dancing on the head of a pin, Viteszi Rend and the Arrow Cross might not have been entirely synonymous but they were both equally anti-Semetic. The only difference between Horthy's knights and the Arrow Cross was that the former "merely" handed Jews over to the SS for transfer to Auschwitz while the latter fully enjoyed getting their hands dirty and doing a lot of the work themselves, e.g. wrapping up people in bunches of ten with barbed wire, shooting three or four of them, and then pushing the whole "bundle" into the freezing Danube River for the rest to drown.

Trump’s Tax Plan Is a Reckoning for Republican Deficit Hawks

....The Congressional Budget Office projects that the federal debt will grow by $10 trillion over the next decade. By 2027, the deficit could reach $1.4 trillion, or 5 percent of the economy, it says.

The office’s predictions have been off before, and the impact of tax cuts on the economy is a matter of debate, as so many variables determine a country’s economic fortunes. But tax historians and veterans of previous tax fights are quick to point out that lower rates are not necessarily a panacea for slow growth.

“This is fool’s gold that you’ll cut taxes, everybody will work harder, more money will come and you’ll erase the fiscal impact,” said Steve Bell, who was a Republican staff director of the Senate Budget Committee from 1981 to 1986. “It never happens....”[/quote]

$1:
Economists Fear Trump’s Tax Plan Only Heightens a ‘Mountain of Debt’

...During his campaign, Donald J. Trump embraced the cause of fiscal responsibility and accused President Barack Obama of shackling the country with a “mountain of debt.”

Mr. Obama “doubled our national debt. Doubled it,” Mr. Trump claimed in a speech in Virginia Beach.

Then on Wednesday, Mr. Trump unveiled the outlines of his much-anticipated tax overhaul, calling for steep tax cuts with only modest offsetting revenue increases. Economists I spoke to this week estimate it would add trillions to the national debt over the next decade.

“We’ve only done the rough numbers, but this looks like a tax cut of a magnitude of about $5 trillion,” said Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a bipartisan advocacy organization for fiscal responsibility. “That is simply unimaginable given our fiscal situation and the size of the deficit, which is already the worst since World War II.”

.....

https://nytimes.com/2017/04/27/business ... google.ca/

So for those keeping score, Trump moves to balloon the debt and deficit like every Republican before him.

Meanwhile Wynne delivers a balanced budget. That must be driving the usual suspects here insane.

For all their talk, Republicans have absolutely NO TRACK RECORD of fiscal responsibility. Even here in Canada, the Ontario conservative record is no better than the Liberal record and federally they are much worse. For a party that zealously shrieks that balanced budgets at all times are an absolute necessity, conservatives sure have a shitty track record of obeying their own religion.

They're kind of like the kid who strikes out every time he's at bat but claims to be the best player on the team and everyone else sucks in comparison. They have all the authenticity of an Islamic extremist who secretly spends his free time eating pork chops and being the submissive in a bisexual all-Jewish orgy. More accurately, they're like the guy who strikes out with women every single night of the week but then claims to be an "alpha male" and gods gift to the "inferior sex" and who habitually sexually harasses every attractive woman within arms reach while claiming to be a gentleman.
