The Summit needed to happen instead of kicking the can to the next administration. One of the reasons it happened is there was a foundation of behind the scenes communication between the United States, it's allies and North Korea.

If a Democrat had done it you would call it treason. Nothing was accomplished except giving the brutal dictator Kim the legitimacy his family has been craving for over half a century.

I wouldn't have met with Kim because I feel;

a. this is a huge propaganda victory for the North Koreans
b. it legitimizes the Kim dynasty.
c. long term it'll lead to more false hope and broken promises

It also gave the brutal wannabe Mad POTUS legitimacy in certain circles. Not everyone is buying his blarney but his same old, same old Hillbilly voter base is.

An interesting opinion piece echoes what you have said here:

Quote:
Trump the 'great dealmaker' lets Kim Jong-un walk away with the spoils in Singapore

The leader of the world's most repressive regime — who reportedly delights in ordering his political enemies in North Korea blown to smithereens with anti-aircraft guns or ripped apart by starving dogs — stepped out of his limousine on Singapore's Sentosa Island Tuesday morning to receive the priceless gift of a face-to-face meeting with the putative leader of the free world.

At that moment, Kim Jong-un notched the diplomatic coup that had eluded him, his father and his grandfather for decades: In front of the world, the despot was treated as an equal by the president of the United States.

Movie trailer gifts. Lovely beaches. Kim's people love him. Cancels exercises without telling S Korea while calling Trudeau a backstabber. Waves a piece of paper with no details and claims nuclear threat is over. Peace in our time.....
The Mad King rules over the former bastion of democracy. Who begins Robert's Rebellion? Who steps up to be the Jaime Lannister?

So he threw south korea under the bus, implied he's going to pull out of the region entirely, for... nothing.

Expert negotiator. The best there is really. Just proving what a wuss he actually is. Good news dictators! Do whatever you want, trumps a little bitch.

Well, Putin should be pleased. After all, Trump wants Russia back in with the G7. Of course then it will become the G8, like it was before. You know, before "something" happened that made it the G7.

(sorry, I couldn't resist)
