These aren't the only two involved in the Great Escape:

Quote:
Prosecutors in Turkey have charged seven people in connection with ex-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn's escape from Japan in December.

Four pilots, two other flight attendants, and an airline executive are accused of helping him flee to Lebanon via Istanbul.

The pilots and executive are charged with "migrant smuggling" and the other crew with failing to report a crime.

Mr Ghosn fled Japan after claims of financial misconduct, which he denies.

But I wonder how much the financial misconduct Goshen is charged with has to do with Nissan's decision to cut production in the US by 20%.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/29/nissan- ... ikkei.html

I also wonder if the Japanese gov't isn't trying to find a scape goat for Nissan's business screwups and thought, who better than some gaijin rather than a native who's failures would bring great shame to the company?

But either way I'd rather spend my incarceration time in a US prison than in a Turkish one. 8O

I'd rather be tried in the Turkish justice system than the Japanese.

Why Is Carlos Ghosn Afraid of the Japanese Justice System?

I know most civilians wouldn't have noticed this but, the Japanese justice system is almost an exact copy of the old military justice system that we used.

When you were accused of a breach of the NDA, it was investigated and that investigation basically assigned guilt or innocence. Then if the investigation found guilt the member was, depending on the severity of the offence sent to the XO, CO, Squadron Commander or to a Court Martial.

Then, all that was left was for the presiding officer to assign the punishment based on the accused's explanation of events. Hell I've had CO's who'd listen to a lower deckers excuse and if he hadn't heard it before he'd let the sailor off with a warning. But if you tried to bullshit your way out of your punishment you'd be given an even stiffer sentence.

It's likely why every old military member has heard the phrase "march in the guilty bastard" being jokingly bandied about before someone was taken up on charge.

I am also going to point out that the Japanese Justice System was created in 1945 by the occupying powers and given that the entire country was under military governance i'm thinking that MacArthur used the military justice system to reinstate order to the country and it's just carried on since then with few changes or amendments.

Nissan's decision is most likely due to declining sales. Since their alliance with renault their quality went to shit (surprise!) and things just aren't looking good for them. Nothing of interest in their lineup

I'd like to point out that if the verdict is found before a trial, it's not a "justice" system. It's a punishment system.

The most glaring problem here is the fact that as a foreigner Ghosn was being exposed to the full brunt of Japanese racism and xenophobia. The executives at Nissan hated him from the outset and they were outraged that Ghosn was forced on them by foreign investors.

These people used their contacts in the Japanese government to initiate a prosecution as a means of unseating the foreign devil they had for a CEO.

Simple as that.
