That "registry" is freaking scary. 8O

WTH is Putin's objective with all this? To take over Ukraine completely?

That's phase one, many think. A reunited Soviet Union might be the final goal.

Exactly what I was thinking too. Start with Ukraine and move on from there.

Just saw this...

Seems a positive development but will Russia honor their end of this?

Although Russia will want their "ancestral homeland" at some point, I don't think that was the point of this.

He just wants NATO invested heavily in this area.

Just my opinion, anyways.

A blurb on CNN this morning said that Putin has admitted that the 'insurgents' in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine are actually Russian soldiers.

Anyone else hear this?

As far as I know he only admitted that the insurgents in Crimea were Russian soldiers. Doubt he'd admit that the ones in Eastern Ukraine are. That was reported yesterday, during negotiations with Ukraine and US.

Seems to me that this admission undercuts any denials he might make about Eastern Ukraine, where the Russian population is much smaller. Maybe this means he's ready to back off a bit. Of course he's smart enough to know that if he steps back a bit, Ukraine will disappear from the newscycle, the West will breath a sigh of relief, maybe Obama will do a George Bush and say something like "I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country," and then Putin can start up the shit again.

I heard, I'll tell you more I've heard it while he was making briefing with journalists. He said that behind shoulders of Crimea people there were russian soldiers.

cue Soviet anthem and unfurl the giant Stalin poster?

To tell you the truth I tried to read that article and I fell asleep, like 4 or 5 times trying to read it.

Really? do we need 45 posts from you about the war in the Ukraine? For your posting convenience we have a thread just for the Ukrainian Conflict located here: current-events-f59/ukraine-violence-grows-merged-t107690.html this way you don't clutter the forum with your propaganda posts.

Warmest Regards,
