How about waiting for the fundss committed to actually have a chance to do something? The ink wasn't even dry on the budget and the opposition was saying that it wasn't doing enough and more was needed. Let's wait and see before we increase the deficit even further giving the opposition something else to complain about.

agreed, but the opposition and the media are panicking.

we should wait for the Obamasiah to actually do something productive.

It's actually quite impressive how you find ways to bring Obama into everything no matter how irrelevant it is. Seriously, this is about Canada and our economic solutions, not really much to do with the U.S. on this one.

It's about Harper, not Obama.

More to the point, it looks more and more like Harper is in panic mode - improvising policy on an ad-hoc basis. In lay terms, he's flip-flopping. Again.

don't see the point in announcing new stimulus funds as the current budget has not even had a chance to kick in . and many infastructure projects have not even started yet . so until we have an idea as to how many are going to get going , there is little point in throwing more money at the problem .

think the infastructure projects like roads and arenas will create some jobs and provide the economy a boost in some regions .

I hate to break it to you and all the folks out east but not everyone can work for the government. Nor can we survive by all of us doing each others washing. We're an exporting nation and our largest trading partner is the US.

It's a sad reality that anything Harper does reguarding this recession is going to be small compared to what Obama does.

Good post R=UP Ridenrain, but the media and those on the left are hammering him because he is not seen to be doing anything, the ignorance is almost unbelievable!!

We would be a lot better off had resource prices not tanked, and that is what most people dont want to understand, we export resources and get goods/ money in return...wow what a simple concept...but unless Harper is panicking he isnt doing anything!!! I think we shoulf prerogue parliment again and anoint him king.....ok too far

well i think alot of people do not really understand the economy as its very complex and some have been foolishly made to believe that governments can just flick a switch thru stimulus and make everything wonderful .

but i do think some of these stimulus ideas like infastructure will have positive effects , the home renovation tax credit may also prove to yield some results as well . some more ideas may need to be though of and more tax credits for various things created .

but there is only so much the government can do , that we have to remember . as this is a global economic crisis that did not originate in canada .

Obviously we are going to be affected by what the U.S. does. And yes, the survival of our auto makers and our trade in general hinges on what Obama chooses to do. This article was about the parties disagreeing on how we are trying to solve our problems and how much money is being spent regardless of the actions of other nations. Its not like Iggy or Harper was using the US as reasons to increase or not increase spending.

This bailout money will not work and more will doing nothing. Return the money to the people that they took it from. Then we will see some action.

But that's what they are doing. They are just taking the money and cycling it through the government first, so it may be more efficiently used.
