Even with a full understanding of the Universe, the god concept is such that I am sure many will still accept it as fact. The numbbers who do would fall dramatically by then though.

I don't think it's possible to prove a negative. Even if science found an explanation for all the "mysteries" that are currently credited to God, someone will always be able to say Why?

Why do the laws of physics work the way they do? Because God set them up that way. And so on.

Having experienced a personal miracle in my own life I'll never be convinced that there is no God.

I hate to say, though, that up until that moment I was mostly indifferent about God and faith.

Indeed, that would be the only type of explanation left.

Nope... just like you can only prove that aliens exist, you can only prove that God exists.

Doesn't work the other way around.

No.

"How?" and "Why?" are very different questions.

These articles claiming that proving a negative is possible pop up from time to time; usually written by liberal arts grad students who brag about evolution but slept through high school biology.

"There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philospohy."

I'm not religious anymore, but I haven't gone full atheist and I usually use that quote to explain why.

Hope not. God's kind of awesome in general. And I really don't want to be around just to see the scientists explain everything happens only because of a few quarks, muons, and protons that keep moving around in a random sequence.

God and Religion et al are man's earliest and first attempts to explain the natural world.

To bad this nonsense is still with us....

Perhaps, but our current attempts to explain the natural world are almost as feeble. A few more millennial of scientific discovery and we'll still barely understand our universe.

Seeing as God supposedly exists outside of 'creation' and science deals with the how and why of creation, that it is impossible for science to prove or disprove the existence of 'God'

God is, and always will be, whatever you perceive him/her/it to be. There is no right or wrong answer.

Agreed. I feel the same way.
