The new 100km, $8million car catcher cable barrier in the median of the QE 2 is proving to be a bit costly today for the unfortunate drivers that have gone into it. Instead of just sliding into the ditch and getting stuck, they are sustaining major damage, if not a complete write off for some.
As of right now the Duce is closed because the cops can't keep up with all the mangled autos littering the highway. Usually they just leave them in the ditch until the weather improves, now the vehicles slingshot back onto the highway and have to be moved.

IT'S FUCKING FREEZING
Ice everywhere, injured myself the MOMENT I exited work and it took half an hour to get my ass home in all this blowing wind and hidden ice.

The freaking lights are flickering
I don't even have anything to do in the event of a black out, I don't even have anything edible without some certain electrical devices operating. No deck of cards. They'd be useless anyway, I don't have candles.
Freaking unprepared.

Brenda Brenda: $1: The new 100km, $8million car catcher cable barrier the WHAT?? What should I be picturing when I read that? I think it might be some sort of metal barrier on the side of the roads. I'm not sure. Like the normal road barriers?

Here's a slide show, I think there's a video there some place. http://www.colascanada.ca/page/cable-barrier-systemThis shows it in the middle of the median, where it goes past my place it's right on the edge of the pavement. It must really irritate the snowplow guys.

What a freaking dumb idea.

From what I saw in the video, the barrier is in the middle of the ditch, so I don't see how the cars could be thrown back into the road.
These barriers are made so that cars cannot cross over into oncoming traffic, cause those usually kill people... they don't really care if the cars get mangled a bit when they hit it.
