Scape Scape:
Hope it does well.

It's pretty good. Not word for word like other adaptations have been, and not randomly made up shit like the 1984 movie was. It's more of a true representation of the book than that was. And they leave it off pretty much where the SciFi miniseries broke the parts up.

The visuals are awesome. The effects are awesome. The actors are awesome (you'll wonder who the Baron is, because he is such an active actor. Think "Hunt for Red October". ;)) Definitely what I expected of the guy who gave us 'Arrival'.

It wasn't bad. Technically and visually it was quite well made. I think the problem for this film is that it really wasn't needed. It's got the same issue that the Spider-Man & Batman & Terminator movies have - there's an obsessive need in Hollywood to do something that's already been covered and that holds no real surprises anymore. Dune is worth watching at least once. After that though? Well, let's just say it's not Star Wars 1977 - they won't be making at least half the ticket sales from fans who got addicted to the film so quickly and deeply and went to see it two, three, four, or five times in the theatre.

Went and saw it last night, the first time I’ve been to a theater in over two years and it was worth it IMO. As said already, the visuals are incredible; one of Denis Villneuve’s strengths has always been using scale and he does that well with the size of the ships and sandstorms and everything else.

I’ve read most of the book (I tried to finish it before the movie came out but I ran out of time) and it was pretty true to the book from what I could tell. If you hadn’t read the book there was just enough exposition to keep you from getting lost, but there was a lot to figure out for yourself too.

Still. I thought it was great.

This will sound heretical, but I'd rather see movies made out of either/both of the Prelude to Dune or Legend of Dune prequel series written by Herbert's son Brian and Kevin Anderson. The elder Herbert's Dune was good, but it was so dense that when teenage me read it, it turned me off (much the same way the Lord of Rings novels did). I've since re-read it, but it never grabbed me the way the prequels did.

Dune Part 2 green lit

Saw part one tonight with the Wife. Gotta see it on the big screen to do it justice. It blew by so fast and covered all the major parts and was really well done.

He's a bit of an arrogant ass.

My group of online friends requires me to be able to quote Hunt for the Red October almost at will.

Even a ruble or a peso or a Zimbabwean dollar would still be too much to spend on anything Fiddyclown recommends.

More on Mr. Fox...

$1:
Fox stood unsuccessfully in the 2021 London mayoral election in opposition to what he deemed "extreme political correctness". He gained 1.9% of the vote, losing his deposit.

In 2019, Fox told The Times that he had been "totally radicalised" by watching YouTube videos about "woke culture" and "political correctness".

Mr. Fox is, let's say it, crazy like a Fox. Between him and Gina, we don't don't have enough brain cells for an average Liberal.
