That is epic, that facial animation just makes this whole movie.

If I wanted to wage war on millions of genetically modified apes, my force of choice would not be the California Highway Patrol. 8O

I've never understood the fascination with Planet of the Apes. The movies from the 70s seemed cheesy as hell and the remake with Wahlberg a few years back was crappy too - even with CGI and better costumes.

I'm going to pass on this one too.

I went to it with my son on Saturday. It was a decent story actually, and definitely better than Marky Mark's remake of the Planet of the Apes. Unlike the original it gives a plausible explanation of how the apes would gain heightened intelligence, rather than a smart chimp whose parents were from a few thousand years in the future teaching them. If you don't see it on the big screen, it's at least worth renting.

I don't have any interest in this movie. Do anyone feel same as me?

From what I heard a couple of days ago, the guy who did the character movement for Gollum did the movements for the apes in this movie.

Is it just me or has it been an exceptionally dry summer for err...summer blockbusters. I like those big action, eye candy movies and makes a good evening out at the cinema.

But other than T3 nothing was even remotely worth watching, also another thing is, dunno why ? A lot of movies I would have watched like Aliens and Cowboys are getting their release dates here bumped further away, Usually for a big movie its same weekend release or even before than the US.

Septemper 1st is going to be a big holiday here due to Eid marking the end of Ramadan and I see the guys have lined up Conan and Cpt America for the big weekend. In a normal year I wouldn't even bother with the two. Cap looks just not right being set in the 50's with all that high tech.

As for Apes I guess its going to get bumped way down or maybe not at all. Havent seen any trailers locally or even commoning soon posters ?! With this Dry movies spell and me itching for my blockbuster fix, I'd watch even Apes now ! :|

I actually haven't been a big movie goer for about 30 years now. Just to give an idea, the last thing I saw in a theatre was LOTR-Return of the King. The movie before that was The Wall, the year it was released

Well I've loved movies ever since I was small kid, and back then we didn't have any cinemas showing English movies. Then in the early 90's. ONE cinema opened up, just one. I remember the first movie it played Last Action Hero and it was the first movie I'd ever seen on the big screen and I was mesmerised and have been going ever since.

I'm still into big visuals and eye candy ( but not cheesy CGI and SFX ) and looking for that next big experience. It was 3D after than IMAX 3D after that and so on.

Now trying to recreate that at home with the advent of crisp Blu Rays and afforadable large screen HDTV's and very affordable surround sound.

Recently got a 40 inch 1080p HDTV from a tiny 32 720p . I wanted to go 50 but the deal on the 40 was just too good to miss even if I sell this two years from now I'll still make money on it.

But 40 for our small studio is still oversized and I sit with it right in my face when watching any movies :D

Its just sad as crap Damn Blu Rays are so bloody expensive here and no bright spark has come up the idea of a blu ray rental place. Just to give you an idea it is still way cheaper to buy blu rays from places like Amazon.com and pay shipping for half way across the world !

Rise of the Planet of the Apes was great, it was better than Tim Burton's Cluster <censored> reboot 11 years ago..
