Hate to say.

It's like a German saying they miss the 'good old days' of the 1930's. Yeah, they're not bringing up the camps and all that, but the nasty bits are inseparable from the good.

Some romanticists see the 'Old South' from a glorified view:

They celebrate the 'genteel' life of the plantations without little regard for how that genteel life was made possible:

With all apologies to the Southerners, when they say 'Antebellum' all I hear is 'slavery'.

One last thought...

When the judges look at the artists' work, they have to look at music only, unless they are judging best concert, performance or video.

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bieber, maybe to a lesser extent... Eminem and other "artists" would not be where they are today without visual medium.

Although I'm not A fan of Arcade Fire, I'm sure that medium had little to do with their succes.

The minister of culture in Quebec was 'sad' because no Quebec group were represented at the Grammy's.

No, he was sad because the Grammy's are an American thing and can't be forced by a Canadian court to have French language artists represented in the awards.

I should I been clearer.

First, it was not the minister of culture but the CRITIC of the minister of culture who is a PQ MNA (separatist, and a hardcore one). He said that because he doesn't recognize english singers/groups from Quebec to be Quebecois bands. He did the same thing with Simple Plan. However, both bands are from Montreal and they all speak French.

I'm not suprised. Some of Arcade fires songs are sung in french. Not french enough I guess.

I guess my friend I went to High School with won't be recognized as a real Québecer either if he wins one of the two Oscars he's been nominated for at the end of the month because he's a bilingual Quebec Anglophone.

I saw the headline in the French paper Le Droit yesterday. Translated: "Foreigners more of a threat than Angophones"

Don't regular Quebecers get tired of this shit ?

Arcade Fire rocks, they're in my ipod playlist . Interesting background the lead singer is from Houston Texas as well as his brother who is also in the band but moved to Montreal ages ago. His wife Regine from Montreal who is also in the band.

That critic of the minister of culture (name is Pierre Curzi) said that the few number of Québécois players in the Montreal Canadiens is a a federalist plot to take over our culture.

 hahahhaa

He's really in his own world where he has a license to kill for the english speakers.

I'm glad Arcade Fire won. It's about time something fresh, unique and original that isn't just about shock value won at the Grammy's.

My wife loves that movie. I saw it one time and about halfway through it I was praying for William Tecumseh Sherman to show up and put it out of its misery.

The interactive video for We Used To Wait blew my mind. I hope these 3 albums are just the beginning for Arcade Fire and don't end up representing the bulk of the their best output.
