Living abroad as long as I have, it still get that "out of body" feeling when you see something Canadian. Like last year when we were at a theme park & I came across this sign. 8O

A few sightings others expats here have seen.
Petro Canada.
Canadian License plates.
or the day I walked into the Dry Cleaners ... & hanging was a Roots Canada T 8O
A few years ago I was at an outdoor festival & met 3 native dancers from Manitoba ... which I had no idea these dancers were touring Sweden.

I want to hear you stories :D

I see lots of Canadians up here in Scotland. The latest example was this last thursday when I was at the local coffee shop getting lunch. I was standing in line, wearing my Roots Canada sweater lol, and this couple walks up to me and gave me a warm hello, and how weird is it that I knew they were Canadian right off the bat?? lol They were from Ontario and visiting. It was nice :)

There's an area of town where I live called Howden, and on the sign going in to Howden is a maple leaf, and all the street names are named after Canadian places. How cool is that??? lol

Last month I went climbing mountains on the west coast of scotland (around Ullapool - still covered in snow and blizzards, and I had no ice picks or crampons with me, arghh) and met a Canadian straight away - we recognised each other by our Mountain Equipment Co-op backpacks.

During my time in the British Army I have met a few other Canadians that have joined up. Most have British parentage and have joined straight from Canada unlike me, I already was living here. I often wonder why they decided to join the British Army. I must have some sort of Canadian radar as I can pick out a Canadian accent even in the middle of a crowded noisey bar.

Not much here in Bosnia. My co-worker and I are the only Canadians in this city. Saying that, there really ain't much Canadian culture around here. There is a bar near buy that is all done out in pine which reminds me of a cabin that my family owns.

On the base, there is an old Candian sea container that I see every day.

I'm currently on an excercise in Arizona and just the other day I happened to start having a conversation with a Vietnam War Vet who was staying in the same Air Force Inn as us. As we were talking he mentioned that he was actually Canadian and from B.C. He moved to the States when he was 13. Small world.

Also one of our squadrons in the Army Air Corps has a Maple Leaf as it's squadron crest as it was a Canadian Squadron during WW2.
