Hello everyone,

I've helping some friends do some market research for a small venture we have planned. Through some family and business contacts, we've come into potential access to incredibly high quality clothes and textiles from India. We're talking things from scarves, to shirts, to yoga clothes, to bedding, and curtains. These are incredibly high quality and detailed and most have been made/woven by hand. We're looking for what people would consider paying for such items?

That's like asking "How much would you be willing to pay for a stereo"?

It all depends on the quality of the product. Having purchased a lot of 'Indian made garments' in the past, I like to actually hold and inspect the garment first.

If it was posted by a noob, rather than Artie, I would agree with you Ray. Artie has been around here since he was about 15 yrs old. We've gone thru high school with him, and follow his uni and musical endeavors.

This one is legit.

Well, like most people have all ready indicated it really depends on the quality and what type of product. *(We're talking east indi here, right?)

If this is regards to starting a business I'll maybe point a few things out:

a. There isn't a huge demand for Indian textiles and there are all ready a number of stores, online suppliers and importers around.

b. As with most things, most people would rather pay less even if the quality is a bit lower. As long as it looks the part that's all that matters to most people.

So to answer the question, I would say $30-$40 and that's only if I actually wanted Indian textiles which I personally don't think many people do.

I know here in Calgary there are a few stores up around 16th ave. They have some very beautiful cloths which are made from some of the most incredible looking fabrics I've ever seen and the prices were incredibly low.

I drove my wife by the shop one day to take a look and she agreed that they were indeed very beautiful cloths but she pointed out that she would never wear them because she would stick out like a sore thumb wearing something so extravagant.

If you’re looking at selling to East Indi women, well like I mentioned there are all ready numerous importers around and the few East Indi women I know who still wear stuff like that order straight from India. *(My wife’s uncle’s wife is East Indi and I know that’s what she does)

Hmm. Those $6 shirts I bought at WalMart were from India.
One completely disintegrated first time it went into the wash.
2nd went in as a 2XL Tall, came out a men's medium.

I'd have to go to Moore's and ask if India and quality belong in the same sentence.

India makes some great textiles and clothing.
Sadly though, we seem to be importing only the cheap stuff.

'India' and 'quality' are not things I typically associate with each other. No offense.

Medicine is still. But even for this I don't think that's for long.
