Quote:
NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario (Reuters) - Prime Minister Stephen Harper, his Conservatives under siege from the New Democrats before the May 2 election, accused his left-leaning rivals of being "smiles and snake oil," but opened the door on Thursday to compromise to stay in power.

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL That creaking noise you hear? That's Harper getting on his knees. That sucking sound - well you know? "Puuuuuuleeese let me stay in power. I haven't finished transforming Canada from a second-tier socialist state to a 3rd world Banana Republic yet."

Quote:
A Nanos Research tracking poll released on Thursday put support for the Conservatives at 36.6 percent, compared with 30.4 percent for the NDP and 21.9 percent for the Liberals.

Go Jack go. I hope you can get rid of Harper and break up his right wing coalition. Then we can have a sane conservative alternative again.

But Harper said on Thursday he would try to bring opposition parties on side.
"Obviously if you're in a minority, you do your best to bring people together," he said in a CTV interview.

ROTFL [laughat]

What an idea. Too bad it took 5 years to figure it out.

What would you do if I sang a different tune, would you get up and walk out on me? Lend me your ears and I'll talk compromise and I'll try to sing coalitionally. Ringo Harper.

Jack is fast becoming my hero. If he can slay the dragons Harper and Duceppe at the same time, all bow down to the might Layton. None will defy him. Canada will become a worker's paradise. And we all lived happily ever after.

Go for it. They're more left than we are already. Very high welfare rates - everybody is considered disabled and gets a nice check every month on which to go surfing. In 2010, the Federal Minimum Wage was raised to $15 per hour or $569.90 per week

Why all the wildly premature cheering?. The Dips are in their traditional irrelevant status everywhere else except Quebec. And Harper certainly wasn't counting on Quebec anyway to provide a majority for him.

More likely that we're just going to see a massive increase in the vote splitting between the Libs and Dips, which makes a bare-bones Tory majority slightly more likely to occur. This is no different in terms of ridiculous predicting than the last election where all the lefties and media tards were pissing themselves in excitement that the Greenies would be waltizing in with ten or twelve seats. Kinda didn't happen, in case no one else bothered to notice. Whatever.

Exactly. I think the past week I'm here, people went from the NDP overtaking the Bloc (not a bad thing, considering the Bloc) to the NDP being the official party of the opposition...and now some people even think he'll be Prime Minister. Holy shit.

Aussie dollar is higher than ours. They're doing better than we are economically. Just don't kid yourself that's it's because it's some neo-con paradise. I like OZ a lot. Would have considered emigrating if I was younger. But then I think about that God awful Aussie stryne, and I forgot about it. Very nice to visit tho.

I agree with this.

The polls in my riding originally showed my riding with a ~600 vote spread between the Con and Lib candidates (about 32000 to 31000), the NDP nowhere in sight at about 8000 votes. However, now some polls are indicating up to a 5000 vote spread of Cons over Libs, where almost all 5000 of the votes go to the NDP.

I really wish some of the voters on the left would pay attention to what their vote is doing, rather than just follow the hype.
