In fairness to both leaders, Canadians don't care about the debates in general, let alone a pissing contest between two boring guys.

This issue isn't even on the radar anymore.

Yes it is. Harper wants it off the radar because it showed him demanding the debate HOPING Iggy would say "no, lets stick to the format" thereby claiming a moral victory. Instead Iggy enthusiastically said yes and Harper realized he is well outmatched in the wits department by Iggy backed down almost immediately.

Rest assured this won't be going away.

I don't doubt that Liberals such as yourself won't let it go away, but it's really not an issue that will define or make a difference in the campaign.

Like you guys over Dion misunderstanding a TV presenters question? What about yourself. A thread announcing a massive gaffe because Iggy misstated the corporate tax rate, a rate you'd be hard pressed to find 5% of Canadians know about?

Boldly issuing a debate challenge then slinking away when its accepted smacks of cowardice and is a reflection of your character.

Exactly, did our constant attention to that issue make a difference? No...Dion was already seen as a boob. Even if he wasn't, I doubt it would have had any effect.

As much as I appreciate your exageration about my post, I never did refer to it as a "massive" gaffe, but I found it interesting that he's unclear as to the main thing he's going to changes to keep promises in his platform. That's more of something for debate here, the electorate don't care about that.

Regardless of how the debate issue is spun, it's not an election issue that Canadians care about...feel free to beat the drum as much as you'd like.

And do you wonder why our politicians have the character they have? When serious things like the contempt charge is spun as a tempest in a teacup and politicians issue challenges like this, back down and then shrug it off without repercussions then we get the electorate we deserve.

This is an issue that clearly undermines his image as "a good manager". Especially in being afraid to match wits with the guy he's spent the entire campaign so far saying is incompetent.
