Like it or not, every Member of Parliament is elected (excluding those that Harper appointed), and have a right to be there. It’s a minority government. The guy I voted for is Conservative and it looks like he’s about to be seated on the opposition benches again. Based on the party’s actions lately, they deserve it.

First of all, the choice of Prime Minister is not a truly democratic process. The winning party decides. Not the individual voter at election time.

The MAJORITY of votes from the last election went to other than Conservative members. As a Conservative, I hoped for more, and expected the party I voted for to be able to play nice for the benefit of ALL Canadians. The leadership and in particular Harper seems incapable of doing so.

The Bloc REPRESENTS the MAJORITY of Quebec members. We can all thank Mr. Mulroney for that little problem. He got into bed with them and that’s how he won his massive majority. Not one of the Conservatives better decisions. Like it or not, they’re there legally.

The fact the Libs, NDP and Bloc can actually sit down together and talk is the most positive thing I’ve seen coming out of Ottawa in years. Maybe they’ll do better, maybe they won’t.

There’s no question in my mind my party has its collective head up its own ass this time and should have done better.

The collective group of morons suggesting separation or suggesting the proposed coalition is traitorous should climb into their pickup truck and move to Utah where the other radical paranoids live plotting for the overthrow of various governments. I certainly don’t want you in my country.

Go to your MP tell him/her that you are against this Coalition, this is (at least in theory) a democracy your voice does matter, despite what you may be thinking right now, talking about separation and flying flags upside down is not constructive.

Actually everyone need to have a "time out", I agree with MTBR, Canadians are distressed, we voted for a party, and now this party is on the verge of being tossed and replaced by the opposition, all this during a economic crisis, that at the very worst, could turn out to be a repeat of the 1930's for many.

You can't vote for a party anymore than you can vote for a Prime Minister. You vote for your local representative and hope it all works out.

This time it didn't. The Conservatives lied about small surpluses, did nothing to even suggest an action about the financial situation and then did their best to gut the other parties funding, and No, I don't approve of the funding, but it was a fair alternative to big business owning the government.

I may be Conservative politically, but that's not the people I want running the place anymore.

1) way more popular support for it,
2) several quasi valid linguistic/cultural/political arguments for secession, and
3) two referenda.

I've lived out west for ten years now, and the only people I've ever heard speak favourably for western secession are internet loonies.

No question that people are often annoyed with Ottawa. Case in point: the equalization promise to Saskatchewan that Harper broke. But does that annoyance rise to the level of a will to secession? I think not; nor will it ever, in my opinion. That's just too radical and destructive. Better to work within the system for change.
