Are you suggesting that if your choice for MP looses, the person from the "other party" who wins your local riding and goes to Ottawa isn't democratically elected?

not at all, I was trying to figure out what you meant by "local representative"

while you are right on with the Constitutional precedent and the legalities of a Coalition, I disagree that the Coalition is right for Canada at this junction of time. Rather I think the current governing party should remain at the helm, for stability during this potentially tough time.

I don't trust them anymore. It seems the Opposition feels the same way. Incompetance should never be rewarded.

Obviously, this is a topic that is way over your head. My previous post was very clear and, easy enough for an elementary school student to understand!
NOWHERE did I indicate that in my opinion did the CPC garner enough votes for a mjority. READ IT AGAIN!

Judging from the tone of your response, You'd vote for your "Leader" even if your rep was Hitler.

[size=200]As to the above, you are waaaay out of line! DON'T EVER MAKE SUCH A STATEMENT IN REFERENCE TO ME AGAIN YOU COCKSUCKER!

In the last election, the CPC garnered more votes than did any of the other parties. That done, the CPC was DEMOCRATICALLY voted in to lead the country. Whether by majority or minority matters not a whit to this situation. Nowhere on my ballot did I see the option of voting for a Bloc/Lib/NDP coalition. If in fact such an option was available, and if in fact the coalition was voted in DEMOCRATICALLY, then, and only then, would they have the peoples will to lead the country. Like it or not, I could live with such a situation with a minimum of bitching and whining, and look forward to the next election. It appears to me that it is those who are involved in forming and supporting the coalition who are the real sore losers!!!
For the record, though I do think the 'West' could 'go it alone', I do not advocate separation. As a country with ALL provinces and territories united, we are a world force to be reckoned with. As it is RIGHT NOW, we truly are a country in distress. Depending on how things turn out in the course of the next week, I too will be flying the maple leaf upside down until such time as another govt is VOTED IN TO POWER!

In the last election, the Conservatives FAILED to get ENOUGH seats to have a majority government. Without the support of those horrible left wing pinkos and frog separatists, they can’t continue to govern at all. That’s the basis of the coalition REGARDLESS of who does it.

The coalition, regardless of how distasteful it might be is not only democratic, but has a constitutional precedent to justify it. More to the point, the bozo’s I voted for can’t seem to get it together. Maybe the coalition can. At least they are talking to each other.

The only RIGHT you have is to vote for the person you want to represent your district. Even then things don’t always work out. Remember David Emerson, Belinda or Cadman?

As for flying your flag upside down, the only thing that signifies to me is that you don’t have the wherewithal to put the damn thing on the lanyard properly.

Given the greatest percentage of Green Party voters were in Alberta, if the west did separate, they might actually have a valid party within the new nation.

Interesting suggestion. But Green support is very thinly spread out. FPTP tends to reward parties with regional concentration over broad support bases; I'm not sure it would change with the kind of redistricting that would follow a western secession.
