I guess we'll see. Next year Alberta is going to see a down turn the likes of which they haven't seen since the 80's. I don't think it will be a rally call to separate but having a Eastern government in power which is pulling money away from our province and sending it east sure isn't going to buy them many friends.
When Alberta was struggling, the East sent money. Sorry, it's a two-way street.
I think most Albertans don't mind helping the East in times of trouble particularly when we're doing well but our time is coming. How long do you think Alberta will remain full out with oil down in the low 50's (or 40's),the new royalty regime kicking in and the fact that the energy sector are the ones taking the biggest hits on the market?
It's one thing to share when times are good quite another to foot the bill for the majority of confederation when times are bad. If the coalition is careful they might be able to mediate this but if they try to pull a stunt like passing a carbon tax to help fill up the federal coffers then it will be a different story.
Really it's up them and how they handle everything but who do you think they will favour considering the Bloq doesn't get votes outside of Quebec and the Libs power base is in Ontario?
Ever heard the expression "it's for the good of the Country!"?
