Filibuster Cartoon
Title: 9-11, six years on (click to view)
Date: September 11, 2007
It is really quite sad and disappointing how more and more people seem to be getting swept up in the nonsense of the 9-11 conspiracy theory subculture. In the last couple of years it has quickly evolved from fringe nonsense to fairly mainstream position, complete with high-profile celebrity backers and polite media attention.

And yet every single claim they\'ve ever made has been so thoroughly debunked! It\'s not like with Kennedy, where there was so much obvious ambiguity; the events of 9-11 are pretty damn clear for anyone who cares to honestly research.

But people don\'t care to honestly research things anymore. We\'ve become very intellectually lazy as a society, the young people especially. People want easy answers to explain the world\'s problems, and then even easier answers to solve those problems. Contrary to the expectations at the time, 9-11 failed to make anyone more mature or thoughtful . Even a cataclysm like that failed to pull us from our steady slog into mental mediocrity, which is not an encouraging thought for the future.

You know, I read about OPP, and he definitely lives up (down?) to his reputation.
Anyways, good comic. I recommend the book "Debunking 9/11 Myths" for anyone who wants to shut up any conspiracy-minded 'friends' they know.
Debating conspiracy theorists is interesting, since, on one hand, they are zealously and stupidly dedicated to their 'points', but on the other hand, they are the most predictable lot around. Their entire 'factual' base on 9/11 is based on misquoted people, 'experts' that are about as qualified in the field they are talking about as my cat, and early articles and quotes from people that didn't know what the hey was going on. Original research? Unheard of.

You all know what I believe and that is why I commented in this fassion. It's all about which side of the fence you're on. I belive this is a small victory for america and it's people and that it is a cause to celebrate.

I'm not really sure why, but this quote really reminded me of a certain XKCD comic strip that I like. Attatch'd since I can't post URLs yet.

Yea no kidding.
Although you have to admit that they bring up a good question of why the Bush administration hasn't done more to clarify EXACTALLY what happened.
It would certainly put a lot of hte "facts" of this whole theory down the crapper.
All the conspiracy people I know all work in labour or fast food jobs so that kind of tells you what they target audience is as well. It's the "Hard working American".
Really sad how we try to take advantage of people.

What's to clarify? Nineteen anti-American Muslims got on four planes and hijacked them. Three planes hit their targets: the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The fourth plane's hijackers were overpowered by the passengers, and the plane crash landed in southwest Pennsylvania, all in one morning. Approximately three thousand people died as a direct result of this.
I was going to post pretending I believed the theories, and subsequently going over the top with them, but then I realized it would be exceedingly tasteless to do so.
Also, XKCD wins.

The Bush administration kind of has boy-who-cried-wolf levels of credibility now. Seeing as it'd be about the first thing in seven years that hasn't been a lie, Bush can't really even say that cows go "moo" at this point without it being "controversial" and heavily debated among liberal blogs. I promise nothing he says about 9/11 one way or the other will be quietly accepted. Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saHs6J0OXVICoincidentally, this video has what has to be the single stupidest comment I've ever seen on YouTube, and that's really saying something. Quote: UR an idiot leave america cause ur obviously too stupid to be here, anyway i do believe the titanic was made of iron, not metal
Sigh.
