When CBC’s Evan Solomon pressed her for more information on her viewpoints, DePape offered neither substantive, conscientious objections to Harper’s policies, nor alternatives.

Oh yeah, she's a fucking genius

You all sound like a bunch of crotchety old men. Young whipper snappers no respect. I actually find she seemed very respectful she could have fought and shouted and screamed and really made a mess of the chambers but she didnt the message was simple and polite and she left when she was made to leave. You're also reading to much into the sign itself what about the fact that she stepped out of the rank and broke her oath to do it thats part of the message. What do you expect her to bring into the chamber that would go unnoticed but still be enough to make her point? She's a young adult who feels that the system isn't working for whatever reason and she did what she thought was the right course of action. I think she should be applauded for this at the least as it shows more effort to get involved in the mechanics of our country then im sure 90% of our population would be willing to show.

Brigette DePape, showed the conservative farts what it takes to have the guts to do and say what you believe in. She also has the mind to understand that this issue is more than catering to a room full of relics but to bring attention to something very important; Harper has to go!

Like you I applaud the young woman.

What we have here is a group of petulant, bitter losers, who backed a losing party, angered at the outcome of a free and democratic election - held just like the ones that put other majority governments in power with similar majorities. They reject the very democratic outcomes that they complain they don't have, simply because they didn't get their way. News flash: no election in history has ever produced a winner that everyone who voted, wanted as their government.

And dissent? Bitching, oh yes... they're very, very, very good at that. Professionals, almost.

But will they all flock to riding associations to begin the policy and other work needed for the next election, to choose viable candidates, etc? Hell no - many are actually proud of the fact they don't even vote. Do YOU have a riding association card in your wallet Taseko?

Will they engage in civil disobedience like chaining themselves to the gates of the CF bases which appear to be a central point of anger for many of them? Nope - too hard to stay online while doing that.

In a year, this immature young child will be a dim memory to some, and a name totally unrecognizable to most. In a year, walk a street in Canada and ask those you meet who Capt Nicola Goddard is - or Bridgette Depape. Or, what the hell, use Haley Wickenhauser's name instead if a dead female Canadian soldier who truly did die as a hero offends you. There's your "female hero" test for you. In fact, why wait a year - go for a walk downtown today and try it out. Let us know how that goes for you.

Plug this thread link into your Google calendar Taseko, and we'll meet back here in a year to discuss it. That is, of course, if Harper hasn't signed Canada over to Satan by then and we aren't all running around in hot coals with little pitchforks and forked tails (or whatever his "hidden agenda" is supposed to be this week).

*Props to "Rick" who actually wrote this, whoever you are [B-o]

Hayley Wickenheiser and Nichola Goddard, check your spelling. If you wish to express your honor of these women at least get the spelling right.

if you had said that tongue in cheek it would be funny, but since you're more of a head in ass or foot in mouth type of deviant it's...well...pathetic. But hey!! at least you're consistent in that area. seriously man, have you ever contemplated what your life would be like if you'd gotten enough oxygen at birth?

The left in Canada have been bereft of heroes since PET snuffed it. Any pinkie around gets elevated to ‘hero’ these days it seems. Evan vacuous chicks that compare losing the election to Arab revolts.

Democracy didn't work for the pinkies so now it’s time to be very silly. Flaccid at best the left is looking rudderless. It's like the notion of 'soft power'. Some of you guys should just post on the Toronto Star web page. That's where most of the losers end up.

Whats your login name on the TorStar site Taseko? By the way, in Canada it's 'honour'. How could you besmirch the memory of those women with a spelling error?

Initially, I didn't really give shit. Still don't really. It's the so-called adults that have elevated DePape to folk hero. The moment "Arab Spring" left her lips, anyone with a modicum of intelligence should have instantly realized that she's an idiot.
Then, when she gets some actual time on CBC, she says nothing of substance in the least, and still, the mental midgets continue to hold her in such high esteem.
Sadly, the only thing DePape has managed to convey is, you can have a university degree and still be as dumb as a bucket of mud.

Wow, you googled those names to find out who they were. Well good for you [B-o]

Now, try googling "Arab Spring" and you might learn even more

Last time I checked, it was spelled honour in Her Majesty's realms. Only the Americans perverted the Queen's English.

When you, as a Canadian, use American spelling, you look like this:

My God. CKA stopped sending me response notifications, so I didn't realize this thread kept going after my last post. Now that I've stumbled across it again, it's like the overall average mental age has been lowered by one year for every day I've been gone.

In a desperate attempt to bring back civilized discourse, I shall dig all the back to a response I received on page four, since I wasn't aware of is existence until just now. Sorry about that....

As a US citizen I suppose you know as much about Canadian politics as we know about yours (?) and perhaps you do.

I make no claims to be in any sort of special category either way. I'm sure there are Americans and Canadians alike who know more than me about the politics of America, Canada, or both, just as I'm sure there are Americans and Canadians alike who know less. I at least try to be generally knowledgeable, though. Of course, unlike the politicians who were the subject of this cartoon, I'm not quite vain enough to declare my own success--all I can say is that I try, and you'll have to tell me whether I pull it off.

It has stirred up considerable animosity against Harper and this is all we can ask. Her detractors get pissed off and say she looked silly, to many of us she looked pretty good and the more this hangs on the better she will look to more.

See, here's the part where you lose me because I fail to make the basic logic of this sentiment work in my head. If a sign that literally just says "Stop Harper" and has nothing else going for it other than being sort of a pun (it's a Stop sign than says "Stop Harper," get it?) is really all it takes to stir up "considerable" animosity against him, why weren't any of the other parties able to do it when they had the chance? Why weren't any of them able to come up with anything that stuck enough to even prevent the Conservatives from gaining a Majority, let alone actually decrease anything, when they all had an entire campaign to do it? Surely it can't be that Brigette DePape and her Stop Harper sign are smarter than the entire combined advertising teams of the entire combined Canadian left.
