I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time in emerg.
Were you waiting 14 hours without being seen by a doctor?
I'd say he is full of shit......
I'd say you are absolutely right ............about your sig.......and dead wrong about the emger situation. I will explain so you don't have to be what you sig claims. Start bleeding after the doctor's office is closed. Call said doctor he tells patient to go to emergency room. End of story.

Yes it took 14 hours to see a doctor. Once he was seen it took him 2 min to freeze the area and 2 more minutes to stitch up the stitches that had popped.

I took a guy to emergency and we were told the wait was six hours, we left after an hour. I myself have waited three hours for treatment. That's far too long.
treatment for what? Was it an emergency or could you have seen your doctor about it? Or do you use the hospital emerg's like your own personal on call medical facility?
Guess what, because of the doctor shortage in Canada I don't have a family Doctor. Just assume what you want to because that's how you justify your arguments. Do you know how an emergency room works? First you see a triage nurse, they let you know if they think you should stay. My problem wasn't dire, I wasn't in a car accident however three hours is far too long to wait for medical care.
2 words..... walk-in clinic.
Then you don't tie up the emergency ward and it can be used for....here's a concept....emergency's.
So you are going to go ahead and without any medical training assume my problem wasn't an emergency. I guess that's how you win all your arguments you just BS and assume. Good job. You really are a nut.
Sorry Ruez under normal ER routine a 3 hour wait does indicate a non-life threatening emergency. That being said this also constitutes a routine broken bone. Should you be in the ER for that, unless your family doctor or walk in clinic has xray facilities and casting abilities, yes. Cut's can be a little more tricky, correctly unless you are formally trained it can be hard to know the extent of the injury. Some require er/hospital conditions. Some can easily stitched by a GP. I don't know that this was a cut I'm just making an example. If you are told you will indergo a 6 hour wait, I'd suggest quicker treatment could be found from your GP,duty doctor or walk in clinic. I was not in anyway trying to determine the extent of your injury. I was only in agreement that ER's are being used in instances where they should not be,

Sorry, but that doesn't sound like much of an emergency to me.

They weren't internal and you know this how? If an incision from major surgery is bleeding from a stitches being popped I would guess that the doctor would be the best judge if it were important enough to have it looked at. Where there incision was is private. Belive me sitting in an emerg room with 50 other sick coughing and sneezing people two days after this type of surgery is not something one does to kill time.

People here shouldn't be in such a rush to assume that because you weren't in a car accident or your emergency isn't life or death that it isn't an emergency. I in fact did need x-rays which I believe are not available at a walk in clinic. I also happened to live next door to the hospital and was in no condition to drive to the nearest walk in. I'm not sure why some of you are so blinded to the problems of Canada's health care system.

I will reiterate what I said in my first post in this topic...... average wait time in an emerg for true emergency treatment for my wife, kids, and self has been under an hour....in most cases within 10 mins of walking through the doors....this is in both B.C. and Alberta......
I have family that have worked in hospital ER's.....the ones that bitch the loudest about wait times???????? are the ones that are hurt the least.

I had a good experience once in an Alberta emergency room I broke my foot at work and was in and out in record time. It doesn't change the fact that there is a problem. In the Okanagan where there is record population growth and severe Doctor shortages, there has been countless articles in the paper about the hospital catastrophe. Now that I'm in Prince George it's only slightly better due to less population growth. That's not even bringing up the nursing shortage.

Am I blind to them no, am I accusing you personally of contributing to the problem no. I would never undertake on the internet to determine the degree of injury a person had sustained. Sorry If you misinterpreted my point. I am saying that in a general context people are using ER's incorrectly. What is the underlying issues with our health care system. IMHO it's a multi-tiered problem. Underfunding to the provinces by the government, over worked and underpaid personal, mismanagement of funds by the paper pushers, under education of the public of what constitutes an emergency, misuse of provided services by the people of Canada.

Sorry...... if you use the hospital emergency rooms as walkin clinics or as your local doctors office then expect waits....... and expect waits as long as there are so many people abusing the system by doing this.

I know they weren't internal because it would have taken more than 4 minutes to freeze you and sew you up.
Unless of course you're incredibly thin-skinned.
And for the record - simply saying "major surgery" doesn't mean your condition is dire. I've had major surgery and gone home the same day with 3 stitches.
That was your body and your experience. Judging everyone's condition based on your own is not a good idea. First I never said my surgery was dire. I had surgery and went home the next day. The details of what happened to me and why I was there are not important . What is important is my doctor decided I needed looking after asap his office was closed the walking clinic where I live was closed his choice was emerg.

Do you always lie to try and win your argument? If you can't engage your brain then I'll have to continue this with someone that can.
