Sorry, but that doesn't sound like much of an emergency to me.
Unless they were internal, but yours weren't.
They weren't internal and you know this how? If an incision from major surgery is bleeding from a stitches being popped I would guess that the doctor would be the best judge if it were important enough to have it looked at. Where there incision was is private. Belive me sitting in an emerg room with 50 other sick coughing and sneezing people two days after this type of surgery is not something one does to kill time.
I know they weren't internal because it would have taken more than 4 minutes to freeze you and sew you up.
Unless of course you're incredibly thin-skinned.
And for the record - simply saying "major surgery" doesn't mean your condition is dire. I've had major surgery and gone home the same day with 3 stitches.
Lily with all due respect I don't think it benefits anyone to belittle what he/she may have thought to be an immediate problem. You quite obviously have medical training. In this case I hold the surgeon at fault. Any patient should be sent home with the information necessary to know if they have any problems post-op.

Sorry...... if you use the hospital emergency rooms as walkin clinics or as your local doctors office then expect waits....... and expect waits as long as there are so many people abusing the system by doing this.
Do you always lie to try and win your argument? If you can't engage your brain then I'll have to continue this with someone that can.
and I lied where?
I quoted your lie.
How is that a lie? It is a fact...talk to any ER worker.... open your eyes the next time you're in an ER. How many people are there with simple couphs, colds, scrapes, cuts, bumps.
You want to call it a lie, to make yourself feel better about how YOU use the system.... be my guest.

I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time in emerg.
Were you waiting 14 hours without being seen by a doctor?
Have I seen it yes....often because ER patients that need to be admitted can't be because their is not a bed available. Therefore they are kept in the ER until one becomes available. Sometimes for as long as 24 hours. Thus the ER bed is tied up and less critical care patients have extended waiting times.

That was your body and your experience. Judging everyone's condition based on your own is not a good idea. First I never said my surgery was dire. I had surgery and went home the next day. The details of what happened to me and why I was there are not important . What is important is my doctor decided I needed looking after asap his office was closed the walking clinic where I live was closed his choice was emerg.
and since your doctor sent you there..... he also met you there...right?
Wrong. But then I didn't know he was supposed to. See I don't spend all my time with my spouse and kids there or myself even if it is just in and out. Most of our needs are met at the doctor's office or the pharmacy.

Sorry but you lie. I didn't even say why I was there but you assumed I shouldn't be. Sorry son but lying doesn't make you right it makes you look stupid. Just so you feel even stupider I'll let you know that I've been to emergency twice in my 35 years. TWICE! The other time was a broken foot like I mentioned. Ya I'm a big bad abuser of the system. Get a new line liar.

Gerry you are assuming his doctor had privilages at that hospital. Unless his doctor has privilages at that hospital he cannot adminster to him there. Also their was a surgeon involved unless his family doctor attended in the OR which I highly doubt. The surgeon involved became his "doctor" or "attending".

and I don't feel stupid..... just because you "ab-used" the system only once ( from what YOU say) does not make it "OK". You admitted yourself it wasn't an emergency and you were basically too lazy to make it to the walk in clinic because the emerg was easier to get to..... showing no regard for others that might have greater need for the emergency facility.

No...what is "shortsighted" AND selfish, for that matter, is thinking that YOUR needs over rule others. Bitching about emergency service when you are using it for non emergency needs.

I've never needed a hospital visit for any reason, and I've only been to the general practitioner once in 6 years, and that turned out to be a false alarm. It seems I'm immune to health care. heh heh heh

Ok i'm only saying to say this once more. Simply because I detest medical misinformation. In the event of a suspected fracture, UNLESS you GP or walk in clinic has at their disposal. An ability to take an X-ray and an ability to cast. The proper place to be is in the ER. Yes, if it is suspected to be a simple fracture...you are listed as non-critical. That doesn't mean you are in the wrong place. It just means someone suffering a heart attack comes first.

I wouldn't waste my time reasoning with him. He clearly wants to lie to try and win his argument. Not much you can do about people like that.
