This is why it kills me when people talk about how "decentralized" Canada is. What bunk. This country is so utterly, utterly dependent on the federal government to act like some sort of everything-to-everyone sugar daddy. And when one of the clients is "unsatisfied" it constitutes a major unity crisis.

It saddens me to see, one term after the next, the atlantic provinces getting the shaft. It is times like these that we need a strong unified Canada and aparently a Unified Canada does not include anything east of the St Lawrence waterway.

Given the vast inequity of seats in Parliament and the Senate, it doesn't appear that you are all that hard done by. Desite having almost 700,000 fewer residents than Alberta, you have 9 more seats in the Parliament and 24 more in the Senate. Other western provinces are equally disadvantaged. Let's even that up and we can talk turkey...

Transfer payments are a non-issue to me, because every province at one time or another has needed them, and I'd guess all have paid more than they got at times too.
