Al Qaida has claimed responsibility------a tactical error----they seem to influence more people than they makes friends.......

Al-Qaeda claiming credit for something doesn't necessarily mean they did it. Terrorist cells like that thrive on a kind of Walls of Jericho strategy where they just want to appear big, receive attention, and thus scare people. As long as we're even talking about them, we're giving them what they want.
On the other hand, I'm not exactly claiming they're harmless or anything. Obviously, they really did do quite a few bad things, and I would only be very mildly surprised if it turned out they did this, too.
Just saying to take their videotapes with a grain of salt, is all.

If they're stupid enough to want to take the blame, they deserve it.

I think Bhutto did choose her life, actually...

This may sound a bit odd but when I heard about her death this morning I felt shocked to a point I had never felt before about a political assassination.
I still hardly can get over it. This is truly awful. I really thought Bhutto could have been, of all that we've seen in the last decade or so, one of the most important factors of peace in the muslim world.

I was quite emotional about it myself. I really do have very little hope in the future of the Islamic world. It just keeps disappointing.

Wow...this is just unreal. It's a tradgedy through and through.
One of the last hopes for peace in the muslim world...just damn. Seriously.

SO Sad - Bhutto "was" a great lady that represented hope - now gone - Lady Di, Mother Teressa and now this strong yet beautiful lady - truly a sad day - I can't say that the thought hasn't crossed my mind that those who are in power - felt she was becoming a true threat to their status and chair - with her gone, the mahem will be repressed with power/force and there isn't a damn thing that anyone in Pakistan can do about it... creating an even worse situation. So much hope has now been turned to hatred - without hope, more is lost than meets the eye - how fortunate we really are on this side of the ocean - more than most realize in our spoiled little world....

Que? Bhutto was typical of politicians. She was as corrupt as hell. While she didn't deserve what fate dealt her, she was no saint. She may have been the lesser evil, but in Pakistan that isn't saying much.

I know basically nothing about her except what I've read in response to JJ's comic, but it's quite clear that elective democracy took a major blow with her assassination. If an American opposition leader was assassinated, I'd think the sitting President would make a show of support for her (though perhaps not her views) and condemn the assassination. That would show dedication to law, order, and democracy.

Comparing what happens within western democracies and what happens in other cultures, even those that are nominal (or claim to be) democracies is like comparing apples to oranges. I'm sure that in some in some communities there were large groups dancing in the street after hearing about the assasination. These people have a warped view of the world and in their eyes these acts of evil are rewarded by their god.

Acheiving one of these ideals is hard enough in the world, let alone all 3 of them.

If there is a God, he hates Pakistan.

On this wonderful planet, not everyone thinks like N. Americans and yes, she was the lesser evil - and while some areas may have dancing in the streets, there are more streets in other areas, that share tears. She may have been a politician, however, she did bring the gift of hope and when hope dies, so does many other things. Why is it that the stronger evil survives and the lesser - dies? It's a world goin' cRaZy

Al-Qaeda was successful in that, right? Attacking and murdering women and children.
More like a bunch of cowards hiding in caves and shanty towns.
Also, as far as General Pervez Musharraf being a friend of the U.S. on fighting terrorism.
Osama Bin Laden is worth more to Musharraf alive then dead or captured, so far to the tune of 100 million dollars and the money still keeps on pouring in.
That whole region is a tinder box that is about to explode in the face of the "west." Canada included.
