Complexity of the bomb depends on the yeild to mass ratio. If you are willing to settle for just a melt-down device, you can make one with reactor grade uranium, kerosene and no precision parts.

The catch is, you're basically dropping a poor nuclear reactor on someone for a rather limited bang. It will, however, render a area the size of New York City uninhabitable. Note that Isreal is just around as big as the New York City Metropolitan area. (NYMP: 6.7k m^2, Israel: 8.5K M^2, including Golan Heights).

Yes and no. Long long ago, the Jews pretty much "declared" Palestine the holy land. They even drove the natives out of there in order to occupy it.

However, Judaism is technically the first Monotheistic religion to establish itself in the area, but Christianity and Islam were derived from Jewish laws, beliefs, doctrine and texts. In that regard, the Holy Land should belong to all three major monotheistic religions.
