I terribly miss the great conversations and camaraderie we used to have here. I looked for a replacement forum for months, one with a remotely comparable quality of political debate, without success. Even CKA generally still isn't as good as the Filibuster section once was. I tried to recreate elsewhere with a blog of my own, but I'm not good at organizing and operating a website, and I certainly don't have such a great hook as J.J.'s fantastic Filibuster Cartoons.

I appreciate Zipperfish, Murray_Smith, and commanderkai defending me in my absence (especially in the talk radio/homosexuality thread, which I promised not to return to). I appreciate CanadianJeff and Kjorteo for keeping in touch and posting on my new blog.

I donno. I'm starting to get settled after moving 400 miles back to my hometown, so maybe I can spend some time looking around CKA and with my own blog. Maybe I can find some of the old magic. But I'm pessimistic about it.

J.J., you really created something amazing for those 9 years. God bless you for it.

Indeed J.J rocks. I tried posting on your blog a few times but there seems to be some sort of issue that keep erasing a post every time I type one out. Not sure what it is but you should link to your blog at least and see if we can get that fixed. :)

I do miss those cartoons, that's for sure. Welcome back, and hey, I was actually wanting to look at the original talk radio list you made, but sadly it was deleted.

I would like to return, and it's something I have been thinking about a lot lately, especially since I came home from Japan the other day.

But at the same time, I do still feel that I have "done" Filibuster on some level, and should take the site in a different direction if it is to be restored.

Any ideas?

Why not try changing the style up a bit from a political comic to more of a Garfield type of comic with recurring characters that represent a piece of the political spectrum? It would give you something new to work with while still being able to discuss politics.

I've been loosely considering making a kind of co-op political blog, where multiple people write political posts and the best ones get voted on by readers (Digg-style) for entrance into a weekly (monthly? biweekly?) email newsletter and presence on the main page of the site. Would you, JJ, be interested in being one of the featured bloggers in such a system?

It'd be cool to have articles like your skeptical discussion of Obama's use of the term "unprecedented" headed by a classic Filibuster-style political cartoon would be a great addition to any such political discussion.

That does sound like a cool idea. I really like your writing, Psudo, and wish it could get more exposure. Some sort of team effort might be a good way to help us all.

Wow, unexpectedly quick response.

I, too, wish my writing could get more exposure. =]

I'm still in the process of moving, but after Christmas I can buckle down and get the code written. (It currently exists, in incomplete form, at psudo.us.) We could probably start writing in early January, maybe publish the first newsletter on the anniversary of Obama's swearing in.

I'm decent at code, but lousy at art and design. Maybe you and I could collaborate (and listen) on a better look for the site than black text on white background.

Haha, looks like Gunnair will be our first reader.
