I wouldn't say the news out of Saudi Arabia is entirely bad. The $10 billion program that the monarch put into place, which is more or less a bribe, sort of illustrates the difference between that nation and its neighbors - its people have come to expect a certain standard of living.

If anything, it might end much like Milosevic's reign did in Serbia - trying to hold onto power after making a terrible foreign policy miscalculation against a hated neighbor. When NATO bombs started turning off the lights and the creature comforts, the people had enough of his crusade and booted him out.

Not all of these Arab countries are bad. Qatar has the globe's richest population per capita, with a good gini coefficient to boot. The Emiratis in Dubai aren't exactly suffering masses either, they have a large South Asian work force that slaves for them. They have nothing to riot about.
