I used to debate politics in chat rooms, sometimes 3 or 4 against one (me). I can really crank out the text if I get going.

They are a women's health clinic that does abortions, yes. We Mormons tend to think the abortions are wrong, but the clinic does lots of good, too. We can't know who is getting an abortion just by their being nearby, and we're not going to confront everyone because someone among them might be doing something wrong. It's annoying to think that such things happen in our good little Mormon town, but it's also irrational to imagine it doesn't. So we pretty much ignore it, or fight it through water cooler gossip rather than picket lines and anger.

It's also somewhat encouraging that we have 6 adoption agencies.

That's what I meant about Mormons picking their battles. We go door to door, sure, but we don't yell and pound the Bible and demand attention. If you say, "We're not interested." we'll thank you and leave. It not a description of what we do, but rather how we do it.

Oh, and I added John Bolton to my candidates chart. I can't find his views on almost any issue outside of foreign policy, though. I have less info on him than any other candidate.

She took Latin somewhere along the line.

Fide is the root of fidelity and is properly pronounced as she did since it is a Latin word and not an English word. Still, the Anglicized pronounciation is generally accepted amongst people who are not intellectuals, Catholics, or lawyers, so you're good if you've been saying it like most folks do.

Back to the cartoon topic though, I think Romney will get the nomination, and has a very strong chance of defeating Obama.

The straw poll numbers favor Romney for the nomination, but I think the similarities between RomneyCare and ObamaCare may prevent it and will certainly limit his success in the general election.

True, but if Romney can get past the base, he'll have great appeal to the center for the general election.

I made a quick reference for all the straw polls: psudo.us/sho/straw_polls.html

Snooki is on that list? Is this part of some sort of clever scheme to make Sarah Palin look credible? :(

There were two write-in votes for Snooki (Is she Republican?) in the Pennsylvania straw poll, and two voters under the age of 18. I think two high school kids got in and voted for Snooki as a way of mocking Donald Trump. One reality star is as good as another, right?

I also think the vote for "Steve Johnson" was someone who got Gary Johnson's first name wrong.

Did you notice the HUGE win for Santorum in the most recent SC straw poll? 150 out of 408 votes. 2nd place was Romney with 61.

Read.

I've actually already read the article, I was wondering if anyone had heard something more recently. I had the privilege of listening to a lecture of his at Duke University, and was quite impressed. He knows his material.

Yes, and? Are you implying those are mutually exclusive or something? Because clearly they're not.

My point was that when someone makes up a derogatory term to insult a guy who does something they don't like, it doesn't necessarily persuade everybody. Need proof it's a ridiculous argument? Easy as A, B, C. Take special note of definition #2 in C.

If you still imagine it's a valid argument, maybe I should redefine your last name to something horrendous to eliminate you from the discussion.
