Filibuster Cartoon
Title: Heir to the Dynasty (click to view)
Date: May 01, 2007

Well, Justin Trudeau will officially be a candidate in the next federal election. He officially won the nomination of the Liberal Party yesterday, and will be running for a seat in parliament in the riding of Papineau, Quebec.

Trudeau, who is the eldest son of the late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, has long been a courted celebrity figure within the Liberal Party. Why, I am not exactly sure. He\'s never really done anything with his life other than stand around and be the handsome dapper son of the dead Prime Minister. But many within the party seem to believe he\'ll be a grand politician one day, just like his father. Maybe even Prime Minister! Liberals are nostalgic for those days, you see.

ah.... good old democratic nepotism. Nothing like an electorate assuming that someone's a worthwhile politician just because their dad banged their mom.

frankly I'll think he's going to be somebody when he takes a step forward on his own and shows that he WANTS to be somebody.

On the other hand, it doesn't exactly sound like Dion has forged a tough-to-beat superstar following, should the two compete.

The liberals pine for Trudeau like republicans pine for Reagan. It amazes me how similar the two parties are.
