I just knew the inner fighting among democrats would lead to disaster. It was too obvious. It was bound to show up eventually. It's actually a good thing it happens so early on, for several months is an eternity in politics, and they have plenty of time to overturn the momentum - what would have been catastrophic is if the ridiculous automutilation would have went on for so long people would only start to show reaction near election time... then the Dems would have been up to the eyes in shit.

Honestly as long as Obama wins the nomination there's just too much hatred for the Republican crowd to declare a Democratic win "difficult". I mean just a few weeks ago you yourself JJ pointed out the canabalism of the Republican base for McCain. They may hate Hillary (and with good reason frankly I can't stand her myself) but honestly with the numbers Obama has and the hated for McCain I don't think it's unreasonable to say that a lot of Republican voters would vote Democrat is Obama is on the top spot without Hillary to be seen.

The Democratic infighting has hurt the chances of the party. That's for sure but it's far from making a win unreasonable. Especially when the Republican candidate is so unappealing to part of the base.

I think that we can look forward to a very tight race this election. Both sides are going to have a lot of swing voters mad with their party's choice of candidate. I'm not saying it's a bad comic just that I disagree with the idea of the democrats having blown things up beyond a chance.
